CA must have decided that it's not worth the expense of hiring the needed staff.
They probably just assume that people will use something like Discord if they really want to chat.
People should be able to chat in random matchmaking with random people without discord like every other game.
Of course the whole point of the "online safety bill" was not to protect children it was to give the UK government more control over people's speech by making social media companies scan posts before they're even published, report them, and remove more posts which the government deems "hate speech"...
So basically no one can chat in multiplayer Total War because the UK wants to censor everything.
Edit: Couldn't total war just prevent chat access for anyone connecting from the UK?
Because people do this. It´s basically some kind of safe connection for those who communicate, as they´re connected to each others PC more or less directly. If people wouldn´t do it - there would be no need to have access to it.
More like a combination of both... It wasn't worth it for CA to spend money on it partly because UK censorship laws made it cost more money.
Yea criminals conspire so what. Can't think of another strategy game that just has 0 multiplayer chat.
God forbid people are able to communicate without the government being able to read and hear everything oh no... "Wait a sec, if someone makes a phone call or text we can just invade their privacy at any time, but on these video games it's a lot harder, >:o"
Also it's much easier to just utilize other programs to communicate and unless the game is designed around people dropping into an ongoing game there's little incentive for folks to play with randoms.
What do you mean? How is there little incentive to play with randoms? I play random matchmaking in this game all the time with randoms, tons of games are good to play with randoms that aren't designed around dropping into ongoing games....
How is it much easier to use other programs? It's easier to open a discord tab than use in-game chat? What?
