Favorite Crapstack?
Curious what everyone's favorite ultra cheap punching up armies are and just knowing what are some seriously cheap punching up armies across factions.

Ogres Unbreakable Gnoblar Trapper stacks are absolutely bonkers for their upkeep, especially with how easy it is to recruit replacements at rank 4 or even 8 with 1-2 ancillaries you can pass around between armies. Unbreakable is such a strong attribute to have on chaff with a decent ranged attack. I also know skaven chaff stacks with a couple weapon teams can be truly beastly. What other favs do you have?

Dont really have "that" go-to crap.

It used to be huntsmarshal+ mostly empire Archers until 5.0 when CA nerfed the huntsmarshal & corrected the range-boost he gave them down to boring levels.

Of course resistance matter, some fits better than others, but accompanied with couple of melee units, 2-3 empire captains and a light wizard I could get lots of out of basic empire Archers. The huntsmarshal gives them bonus vs large & the range went up to 180, but that skill went up to level 12 and the range-boost was "corrected".

High elf spearmen and archers.

Dirt cheap but they punch so far up

Dreadspears + darkshards. Viable all the way through endgame and cheap as peanuts.

The obvious, no-brainer pick - zombies.

My go-to with helves was always 50/50 lothern sea guard and archers. Fully ranged stack that can hold a line.

19 stack of empire spearmen with no shields

I think thats the answer - shielded armor piercing ranged units right off the line.

I think the OP wanted effective stacks. Not glorious, manly, dashingly attired, properly-Sigmar-loving but lacking for worldy success stacks.

If the AI can survive with nothing but that, a glorious sigmarite can survive with 19 spearmen

I suppose they are dirt cheap - and I havent run one army like that, but I have run 2 or 3. Sigmartide.

Drown them in feathered hats, frills, and codpieces.

If you want sigmarite crapstack just get 19 fcm.

Really only somewhat viable with Volkmar imo, as you problaby know CA nerfed that certain hero that made it more fun:/

Ran around with that in my latest mp-campaign pre latest patch, its always fun

Full Lothern Seaguard on an Fire Mage Lord.

Stupidly cheap, surprisingly powerful, amazingly versatile.

It's not as bad as people think. It needs a little micro or at least some checkerboard, and it won't stop endgame tier army but can do some good damage and is dirt cheap. Also fcm is way more powerful in ar so it's good to have as backup stack to quickly ar sieges or something.

I don't know if it counts really, but vampire coast can get really far just stacking handgunner mobs. one or two gunnery wights, some mortars/carronades/queen bess to force enemy to engage, then just have lines of handgunners. They're zombies so they work as a line just about as well as any other low tier vamp coast unit, but honestly they melt just about everything that comes at you.

Another fun one is Belegar ranger stack. Thanes have an upgrade to give all of your rangers stalk. full stealth dwarf army is possible, though the AI can bug and ignore it sometimes. they are supposed to fan out and look for you, but it seems that got broken and sometimes they will just go straight at you ignoring your stealth. AI bugs aside, it's good fun and strong with all the of the buffs you can stack on rangers.

Skink Cohorts (Javelins) can be recruited without military buildings. Cheap, decent in auto-resolve, and easily maintained through recruiting more to replace the ones that were lost or throwing in a couple Chiefs for better replenishment. Their quick movement speed allows them to chase down routing units without having to rely on expensive and difficult to recruit cavalry units. The javelins also make it so that each unit can get one or two cost effective volleys off before battle is joined. Their aforementioned speed also allows them to flank and encircle enemies far more effectively than other units in their price point. There's also the almighty and overpowered Aquatic trait that will surely make the difference in every battle you participate in.

Ghorst, 19 zombies, defeat gelt, and the iron dragon, bam, more than 30 armor for zombies
