Are they doing anything about entities 'slipping' through gates?
It has been an on-going thing... Or is it an intended feature?

I thought they fixed that. You can't teleport across the Bastion anymore and if you try to walk through a gate/fort they get to attack you.

Wrong type of gates. They mean how units attacking gates slip to the other side and getting stuck surrounded by enemies with no escape.

I'm pretty sure that has been a bug since Medieval 2. CA hasn't fixed that bug for 2 decades and I doubt they ever will. Seems to be a quirk with the engine.

Honestly that would be nice. The great bastion is kind of a joke the way it is.

I mean the only option would be to put an invisible wall that attacking troops couldn't cross until the gate was destroyed/captured, not sure how well that would be received

Oh, yeah that's the gate bug and it's been around forever. Pretty sure at some point a few years ago CA admitted they have no way of fixing it.

Hmm you mean kinda like... a Visible Gate... that the attacker can't cross until it's destroyed?

I'm not sure how much they can do. As far as I'm aware it's often caused by defenders getting close to the gate, which results in the gate opening. And then they retreat and the gate closes again, trapping attackers on the other side.

No, I meant like in AoE3 where even if the gate is visibly open hostile units cannot pass through it.

I think they are doing something with sieges in the upcoming 6.0

Even if the defender is holding the gate open you can't manually order units through so dear god make the bloody gate a wall already seriously. It's already trying to be that it's just failing and doing the worst possible thing instead by randomly just having a few models or an individual monster slip through without any of the others with them being able to also enter

I abused this bug a lot for fun shenanigans with Skarbrand. I walk up to the gate and enrage the dudes on top and run down and open the door and all I gotta do is issue an attack command on one of the units and he just charges his way right in without needing to break the gate.
