alternatively, yes, gelt can sometimes survive, bu more often times, you have to go out of your way to go meet gelt, volkmar and markus to confederate them
Would be nice to not have to rely on a mod for it, especially since some factions already have it in the base game.
Probable? Not really
Easy? Definitely no.
Gelt nowadays work exactly as Wulfhart has been working from day 1: you can confederate him if you get to him before he's wiped out; best bet is probably to send a hero straight to him from turn 1 but even then, no guarantee
It only work for factions within the empire (elector count factions), so when it comes to legendary lords of the empire you can only use it for Elspeth. Also it requires 10 fealty and 2500 prestige, so its expensive.
So I assume Franz can do it also.
The way I did it, I sent 2 lords by sea early on. the first lord went to visit Volkmar immediately. Volkmar is the LL most likely to be killed, so you need to get there fast to spot him so you have a chance to confederate him. The second LL went to visit Markus and then off to visit Gelt through the sea lans. Markus and Gelt are relatively stable.
If Elspeth or another elector count is killed, they are easy to bring back. If a non-elector count LL is defeated, they are harder to bring back (you have to take the settlement, cause a rebellion, lose the settlement to the rebels, then go to peace and confedreate).
KF is the best for confederating all factions, because the upgraded imperial confederation action allows KF to instantly confederate an LL every 5 turns. So you can get all six LLs within 25 turns once you have the upgraded confederation action.
Elspeth doesn't have the imperial confederation action, but she does have visibility technology to see all the LLs, so you don't have to travel a long ways to find the other LLs.
No you can force the rebellion for the enemy and raid, sack them and spam -control heroes and lords. After they rebell on the enemy and you "rediscover" them as a faction, you can instantly trade them a settlement or two. Also they should like you for being at war with their former invader.
