Why are lizardmen so bad in pvp? Best lizardmen strats?
Just wanna fight some people as lizards but get absolutely destroyed by literally anything with any range.

Lizardmen has zero good range options. Every single opponent brings long range missiles and mortars that I just have to walk into because all of my ranged options are too far away, and my melee units are too slow. Any missile cavalry or archer unit can just walk circles around all of my slow lizard troops.

I get that the point of lizardmen is to be primitive and monstrous, which should absolutely trade powerful ranged options for strong melee potential. But why then are melee lizard troops also so mediocre? They go 1 to 1 with every other melee unit and dont seem to have any defense from ranged units whatsoever. I just dont seem to understand why the GIANT LIZARD PEOPLE are barely going even in melee range with the human or elves a fifth of their size. Aren't they supposed to have a lot of health or damage in that regard?

Even the giant monsters like Dread Saurian and Carnosaurs just get demolished by every single small melee unit + any ranged unit combo. Like why cant they have good defense versus ranged archers, or superb melee power? It seems like they have neither and are just left to die if the enemy has any brains and brings a single ranged unit.

If theres any tips for combatting this im all ears, cuz its just so annoying having my entire lizard army taken to half health by three rounds of mortars/ missiles across the entire map, and then having to deal with a million small archer units until I die.

Lizardmen
Bad at pvp.

Pick one, the 2 things together have never been a thing. Lizardmen are quite strong. One of the few who can content with Greenskins. (who is the absolute number 1 atm)

Sounds more like you do not use your unit's as you should.

If you bring a massive centerpiece like the dreadsaurian, you must bring a Slann of life magic. Because such a monster is a tempting target. If you brought a slann, you have a bubble of nope. Which negates much of the ranged damage.

You have chameleon skirmishers, which beat many other ranged unit due to their 40% missile resist, combined with stalk.

You have fliers, who if you actually utilize them properly will decimate ranged unit's quickly.

You have skinks to be your first line of attack, soaking and wasting enemy ranged attacks.

Have you seen the stats of Saurus compared to other baseline infantry?
Their HP is about 50% higher then a Empire swordsman. Even 10% higher then Chaoswarriors. Similiar to their leadership, a solid 75.
But the biggest outlier for Saurus warriors is their weapon strength. They deal a crazy 52 damage per hit. 18 of that is ap.
For perspective, Chosen "only" do 48 damage with 14 ap. Black Orcs do 50. Even swordmasters counting their anti infantry, do not do as much damage as Saurus.

Saurus absolutely murder chaff unit's like no other race. And Chaff unit's are the meta since warhammer 2, because mass chaff unit counter ranged.

Edit: then theres the easy access to terror causing monsters. Bastilodons are amazing, one of the best monsters for their price point. With a low profile so enemies can't easily shoot it in melee.

Feral cold ones are amazing at stopping any enemy cavalry from moving. Or to flank and rear charge enemy artillery.

Does your enemy rely overmuch on corner camping with ranged units? Introduce them to Lord Kroak.

this a joke right? lizardmen have been very consistent in tournament results for a while now. They arent bad you just need to learn how best to apply them.

Pretty sure they are not, this sounds more like an error 43..
