Playing through my Fromsoft library again, currently cleaning up the last few trophies from Elden Ring, then there´s just Bloodborne left, been saving that as it´s my favourite of them.

And playing the new Rimworld DLC on the side.

I've heard of that one. I played on Blackstone Keep and Battledale ages ago, and DM'd on the former. The game has a lot of pw's right now, probably more than the active player base needs. There are a few that are super popular though. Hardcore RP really needs good DMs for it to be enjoyable in my opinion.

It's just a beta/demo to get people to buy the preorder version (which said beta access comes with).

Well strategy wargamers are almost always huge nerds (me included ofc), we all have our own niche interests that we get really into and know everything about.
I´m guessing the amount of people who like popular action-packed multiplayer titles -and- slow paced strategy wargames are really rather slim.

This is ofc my own fully biased take on it.

Is it that interesting? I'm assuming the ven diagram of gamers who play a lot of Total War and gamers who play a lot of CS2, DotA, or CoD don't overlap a bunch. I think a lot of folks who play the really popular games play almost only those games.

Perhaps. But this counter-intellectual overlap faction seems to have an overproportial part in the forum discussions.

Like all the "gaem 2 EZ lol" threads, the "CA gone Woke" threads, the endless outrage over one poor CA representative comment, the review bombing over DLC price increase, and so on.

You know what i mean? When the forum yet again looks again like a telegram channel for MAGA-indoctrinated middle school bullies.

Going by that, you'd expect about every third reply in this thread to state Counter-Strike as their other main game.
