Its not about inflation, its greed
Regarding a popular thread I saw, I decided to make a thread instead of a reply about it. People claiming that CA has put these absurd prices because of inflation either fail to recognize, or simple rationalize pure greed by CA and Sega. How come some companies can make massive games with free updates for years and not complain about inflation? Like Hello Games, Larian studios, Project Zomboid's The Indie Stone, 7D2D's The Pimps, Bay 12 Games.

In the same time CA is always crying while sitting on massive profits, throwing money away in failed projects, launching extremely overpriced DLC's with minimum work put into them, all because they know they have fans living in a "gaming bubble", fans they can simply rob with no sympathy. But a lot of fans started to realize this, like they did in their history titles, resulting in the failed Pharaoh launch. And thankfully in this community people started to realize it, and revolted when the last DLC launched, forcing CA to try new strategies, in my opinion also bad, but at least putting in more effort in development, like they always should have.

You can abuse the fanbase only until a point, and if CA doesn't change their management, I am afraid they will eventually die as a company. Gamers are getting more mature, starting to reward gaming companies that actually show they care about the gamers, that see them not only as consumers to be taken advantage of, but as fans that deserve respect and good gaming experiences. We saw this with BG3, Helldivers 2, Palworld, and the games I already mentioned.

The fact that CA decided to double down on the pricing, with a slight adjustment by splitting the DLC in three, that will one hundred percent still be overpriced, shows that CA still goes on this path that leads to their own destruction. Sure, they still have fans in the fantasy Total War branch, but at this rate not for long.

Well, put the blame on the people who are clinically incapable of controlling themselves. It's their own fault, really, if you think about it. Just wait a couple of years before you buy the new stuff, simple as that. Easy peasy. There's much money to be saved by being a stingy hand-rubbing jew, after all. Too many people want their stuff right now and are completely incapable of waiting a bit. I blame MTV, personally...

I saw a DLC in my discovery queue, clicked to see what happened since I decided ill never give them another dime. Had a chuckle when I saw there was like 400$ of DLC. Been playing some other 30$ games that do regular updates for free 2 years post release. Unfortunate since I actually like total war games.

I mean, If you buy them all on Steam for full price, you're kinda asking for it. They are always on sale, if you know where to look.
