Anyone use Empire mortar war wagons?

I never have, since they do the same job as mortars but are a lot more costly. Is it worth the massive cost increase?

i used them if i had more "mobile army" and didnt wanted them to be left alone and vulnerable, but it depends on the situation

They are much faster, 3 entities (depends on unit size) instead of guns + crew, and can escape if some infantry gets to it or skaven spawn clanrats under them or something. On the other hand if anything gets to your guns you're doing something wrong, so not needed if you know what you're doing.

Also you can charge with them :). Good for disrupting infantry when out of ammo or the collateral damage firing them into the fray would be unacceptable

Have not used them since last game in a Huntsmarshal campaign, you could skirmish with them a bit which is nice. However, unless you are trying to build a skirmishing empire army with artillery they are pretty niche.

They aren't the most efficient chariots for cycle-charging but I do use them against less mobile armies, trying to position them on the enemy's flanks or rear to chip at their morale with shots until I get the opportunity to charge.

A surprisingly effective tactic against an unprepared opponent.
