2) Captain (that said, I usually take more Captains rather than Engineers at the start since I've got more Runefangs than people to equip them to).
I can't figure out who more deserves to belong in the dumpster tier more between Huntmaster and Arch Lector. Both are irredeemably garbage. Like... I'd even choose a night goblin warboss over these two. Arch Lector having like 30 melee attack, are you serious?! They're not just the worst of the Empire, they're probably contenders for the worst lords in the entire game.
Having an early boost to archers was great! Also boosts greatswords and gives the archers bonus vs large. The extra movement-range is nice (Archers perform really well even into lategame maxed out btw). And it was more than poor Markus ever gave the archers...
Have not played that much since update though, work. The captain was beyond useless before imo, dont know now, did not offer anything at all. I imagine the engineer will jump to the top, especially after the huntsboy got nerfed
Far below that, the Huntmarshal, with the fleet footed trait. They do lots of damage and have good infantry buffs.
Then below that, standard lord, due to Gryphon mount.
Arch lectors are a waste of a slot.
The Huntsman General is easily the worst now that the Master Engineer has come in he does everything the Huntsman General does except better. The Huntsman General MIGHT still have had a niche role as an early game lord but CA decided to nerf his special Yellow Perks to require level 12 to give additional Range to your Archers. So there's almost no point to using him anymore.
Otherwise, the other 3 Generals all do different things, and depending what kind of army you're building can each be a good pick. I tend to like the Arch Lector in the early game since he's a little bit better of a fighter than the other two before their big mounts come into play. I like the General the most in the late game once I've got my economy running and lots of heroes to fill out each army.
The Engineer Lord I'm still figuring out what kind of army I like him best in, but he's not a bad general by any stretch and once his Steamtank mount comes online he can be very strong.
Also arch lector is a support lord not a dualist lord like the general, their buff abilities are still pretty good.
And the worst lord is Boris actually he didn't get any of the new skills that generic empire lords got.
and like said above huntsmaster's would have been great as early generals but since they upped the level requirement for the archer buffs they kinda screwed him over, arch lector isn't a dualist but his "spells" are still pretty strong.
Worst is Huntsmarshal. Master Engineer kinda ousted his role as a ranged lord option even if they focus on different things. Their Anti-Large is nothing a few cannons or guns can't replace.
The other 2 I'm less certain about. Generals are good in standard armies since they're the only decent duelist you get outside of legendary characters. But in armies with legendary heroes that are good fighters(Gotrek, Felix, Theodore, Rodrik), Arch Lectors bring more than Generals do if you don't need the Lord to fight the enemy's dedicated melee characters.
General.
Huntsman General.
Arch Lector.
Arch Lector and Huntsman General switches places if your faction leader is Volkmar, but I would still rather take a Master Engineer or General.
Master Engineer has strong ranged attacks and is durable, but the General becomes a fast, flying duelist, which can be very nice in sieges.
Archlectors for an emergency army built to defend something. They're better at low level than the competition.
Generals if the army built to stay isn't planned to have lots of guns, for whatever reason.
Huntsman generals I have yet to be satisfied with their performance in battle, so I no longer recruit them.
