I'm just looking for a mean average, I know hardware specs will give different results and not asking people to list them so don't worry about the specs.
Ofc they make no difference, you bought into the ''New ssd generation'' hype and now you're finding out that hype sells but doesn't always deliver. I'd say it's a valuable lesson.
I actually timed this on my PC a few weeks ago, because I was suddenly having HORRENDOUS load times when going to the campaign map.
I found that I was using a mod that was adding about 33 seconds to the load time.
Also I learned that Texture Settings greatly affect load times, at least for me and my aging PC.
But i cannot say entirely accurate or reliable given that I usually have something in the background that I alt-tab during loads, usually a series or youtube.
Other than that TW is notoriously slow when it comes to allocating system memory for loading the data into first and also seems to decompress the data out of the huge archive files using only a single CPU core/thread.
Ofc they make a difference, have you seen the read/write speeds of M2s compared to SSDs hooked up with SATA cables??? they make a HUGE difference. the load times of wh3 isnt because the M2 drive isnt more performant, it depends on your mobo, but mostly on your RAM and CPU. GFX cards also but if they cause a slowdown in load times just lower your graphics settings. if OP has AMD adrenaline software you can usually see where you bottleneck is.
20 seconds to load up a battle
18 to get back to map afterwards
Thats with a WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe
When I first got it, like you, I was disappointed, as it appeared to have no effect on my load times over my old SSD.
I've since upgraded from a motherboard that supported my 6th gen chip to one that supports 12/14th and gives the above results.
Sata SSD or NVME SSD makes little difference in loading times yes. When i wrote that sometime ago, plenty of super wise people have screeched
I think the biggest problem with this game is load times are far too long. On PS5 games, loading most games at most is like 5s, with many of them 1-2s. PC seems bottlenecked badly somewhere.
1:36 loading a turn 24 save
Battle time load was 21s, back to campaign ~25s (I forgot my phone for the first few seconds so may be off).
I can't be bothered to check what brand my SSD just know it was economical when I bought it like 4+ years ago, and I'm thankful I did, because I played all of TW Warhammer 1, and a ton of hours of Warhammer 2 with a HDD and they sometimes had almost 5 min load times for battles.
Been using Samsung 990/980 Pro's for 3 years now in the desktop. Current specs are a 5800X, 32Gb DDR4 3600MHz and a 7900XTX @ mainly 3440x1440 and a little 4K.
For the laptop much the same times with the shipped OEM 980 Pro and a regular one. Specs are 6800H, 16Gb DDR5 4800MHz and a 3070ti @ 1440p. The big difference here is, of course, the lower average fps and that 8Gb VRAM cap (which is maxed out running this game at ultra nm others)
I do play the game modded, generally around 10-15 mods. A smaller number compared to many, but none so far have noticeably impacted performance or load times on either.
Sarmatll made a fair point re the PS5 loads. It is somewhat faster (mine has a 2Tb Corsair MP600 Pro LPX) but the PS5 has various optimisations not always afforded to PC's and games so it's not a straight comparison.
