Plagues now can cripple his armies regen cap.
Previously we would just make two exalted Champions of Nurgle and those two would single handedly destroy any threat on the field with the exception of perhaps a strigoi ghoul king.
Kugath himself is a boss too.
It depends on what you field too. As an example 2 forsaken of Nurgle in your lines can be useful of mowing down the chaff. Can even use the RoR daemonspew one that you get quite early. Forsaken can literally mow down zombies and basic skellies with low casualties as they have high armour and frenzy, even better they hard counter crypt ghouls of which can be a dangerous unit for your basic unarmored units in your battle line.
Wouldnt count on plagues that early. You get it unlocked at turn 5 and then only a handful of symptomes to choose from. With the infection bug gone you would prob have enough infections at least.
Also to your other post the forsaken arent avaible that early.
But you are right with the exalted hero, You wont get 2 now in time but one is good enough. You have to delay your attack a bit to get him. Together with the Death heads you can kill ghorst pretty easy.
You can try to ambush him before your settlement to make it easier.
Sometimes you get really unlucky and he gets mortis engine and bloodknight from raise the dead early.
Well it largely depends on how many turns you are trying to wipe Ghorst out. You have as many turns as you need to do it. I've had 3 exalted heroes before now. The death heads are definitely OK but can be pretty squishy and need to be careful with them.
Mortis engines are fine, they were not really all that much of a problem along with the corpse carts either. They become an issue if you blob up your units, don't allow them to have mass attrition damage or mass healing.
The dragon aisles are pretty defensible and you have all the tools you need to get the job done. I can have a look at one of my previous saves to wiping out Ghorst in the fastest time but its largely irrelevant as you as the player can deal with it at leisure.
Ghorst rapidly healing and having more armies is definitely a bonus, the more of them they have, the better for you, as you grow in strength rapidly. You do need to be careful of vampiric corruption, but just use encamp stance to counter that. There's no rush, suck it up and get stronger.
Edit: Also, Ghorst tends to trail behind his army somewhat so its easy to isolate and pin him. Other units such as black coach, black nights, white king etc you can pin down with Nurglings and then destroy with your exalted heroes. Only other threat you used to have were crypt horrors and its the same usual in dealing with dangerous units, pin them with chaff while you get the right match ups to destroy the army in detail.
