Reikland is still too difficult because Bretonnia is so bad
In 9 out of 10 campaigns that I start as Reikland all of Bretonnia gets completely destroyed by turn 20 due to a combination of attacks from Broken Axe, Barrow Legion, Seducers of Slaanesh, Shadow Legion, Vanaheimlings and sometimes Talsyn. After Bretonnia gets wiped out many of those factions than declare war on Reikland and it's just ridiculous. The campaign because tedious and practically unmanageable as I now have to defend from all sides

That's what makes campaigns fun.

Start as Bretonia, and help charge them to victory!

For the lady !

Help those weak sons of the "empire" regain their honour
I don't know whats going on in your campaigns but in my 3 so far bretonnia still stands strong.

I like a little difficulty, but I do wish there was more variety in how things play out. Bretonnia ALWAYS loses to Kemmler and Grom. Middneland ALWAYS loses to Khazrak and The Black Pit orcs. Festus ALWAYS stamps Hochland, and Vlad ALWAYS steamrolls Stirland.
None of the Bretonnian or Imperial AI factions can ever hold their own (let alone, win) against the threats surrounding them, and it looks like 5.0 only made their collapse happen even quicker, leaving Karl to fight everyone alone all the time.

In most campaigns I've done in WH3 Louen ends up taking over most of Norsca by the end since he stomps everything. Luck of the draw I guess.

I also found that Bret got stomped in my most recent empire campaign as Nuln. However I just sent an army to that side, loot occupy everything, then sell it to Bret. Made a ton of money, and brought them back to protect that side.

My last Karl Franz run saw the Fay Enchantress take out Grom, Kemmler, Be'lakor and Morghur mostly by herself. meanwhile Thorgrim got so beat up he ended up using Averheim as his new capital

Reikland is stronger than ever, and you still struggle somehow? that's allmost commendable

I wasn't observing the downfall of Bretonia, when I played Karl and Elspeth, so sometimes the AI is holding it's ground. But I recently started a Bretonia playthrough and you are really surrounded by big enemies, I can understand, if the AI struggled more often than not!
Playing VH/VH with a lot of factions and bretonnia always slaps its surroundings. Louen becomes an unstoppable killing machine and his buffs make his knights pratically immortal

So whats the problem?

I went for Barrow Legion just after dealing with that angry Khazrak and pushing back the orcs and bringing back Middleland, idk why someone would not go against that creepo grandpa as soon as possible he being just at two turns away from Reikland settlements and being one of the victory conditions *shrug . When I was done with the Barrow Legion the Broken Axe appeared but got the aggro of Talsyn, so I went back to rescue Talabeclan and Stirland with those new two provinces from the Barrow Legion now giving me revenue with t1 weavers until any around needs them to keep the power balance in my borders.

Gotta care about all your borders first, is still hard to loose all the fealty from your remaining empire factions, no need to hurry that much to bring back the east part of the empire. It is very manageable, is the same rule as always, keep an eye in power balance and look to close your borders first.

I've played two Karl Franz campaigns since the update and both times Couronne has held its own. You've just been unlucky.

Since posting this I wanted to test just how unlucky I was. I launched three campaigns as Reikland restarting each every time Couronne fell. In all three campaigns Couronne fell withing 30 turns do to the combo of attacks from three different factions and usually Broken Axe slaughtered everything in Bretonnia with Barrow Legion mopping up the rest.

With such consistent results I don't think I'm unlucky I think you are lucky, Couronne surviving is the exception not the norm.
