Just ignore your vassals. Let them trail behind you and settle ruins in your wake. I've never bothered with trying to manage them as WoC and just let them do whatever they want.

Better outposts with garrisons comparable to other factions so you don't need vassals to retain land.

This one just expands the amount of building slots from 1 to 3. Very basic but it makes them a bit more useful. No garrison edits here.

If you miss the horde function from game 1 and 2.

Local recruitment as any other race.

Alternatively, this one makes your vassals feed you souls. Which makes you hate them less because they actually have a function.

Also, as a general rule I try to get the most agressive AI's as my vassals asap. Grimgor, Malekith, those kind of bad guys will stomp the world for you, which will make you feel alot less like you're just there to hold their hand.

I just consider them a pest for my enemies.
And gift them some money from time to time.

If you hate vassals then my first advice would be to not play Warriors of Chaos. Their play style relies heavily on vassals.

Without them you are just going to have a endless cat and mouse game where you take or raze settlements you are unable to defend, that the enemy then retake.

You dont really do anything about vassals tho.

Literally just vassalize everything and forget them and do your thing.

Certain factions you'll want to vassalize everyone you meet, the more vassals the better. Archie and Dragon Ogre guy I think?
