They're Gonna Fast Track 40k Total War Now
SEGA and CA are in a position to sell big and get some runway. What better way to do so than sell some 40k games? Non-TW fans of the franchise will buy it up for $70 in their millions. Who can resist a 40k game that can actually allow thousands (hopefully tens of thousands) of deployable troops?

We know that it's coming. All CA really has to do is re-skin much of the WH3 models and assets and we're gonna end up with a 40k.

We already have deployable covers. We already have a workable tank. We already have an off-map bombardment. We already have spells.

We're also familiar with multi-realm maps. We had it in Empire TW and we have it again with Realms of Chaos. Multi-planet campaign maps are totally possible.

It's easy to slap on naval battles too. They just need to modify FOTS naval battles and remove water. It's in space, but it will not be omnidirectional. But who cares. 40k crowd will eat it up.

Only after they milk that 40k money will they place some more manpower into historical TW.

They can do what ever universe/theme for the next game, they first need to fix more bugs than they ad; make a proper Ai or allow us to custom it more.
Then they need to learn how to make pathfinding, how to make update off less than 50 giga when they just "fix" 4-5 bugs.
Last but no the least, they need to learn how to communicate with their community and to make dlc with more value than a mod make by a solo fan in few months.

If they do at least all of that, they can make a game with any ip/historical games we don't care they will sell well !

Total War Star Wars

This game engine is dying for a Star Wars world scape. All the units, lords and hero's are there boi

I always thought 40K would be more appropriate in the approach taken in the Wargame series. The scale just isnt quite reached in Total War.

I truly wish they keep that one in the back for as long as possible since it will likely be the end of warhammer 3 at this point and I realy dont care for spacemarines

I honestly dont want them to do a 40k game. Looking at WH3 and other recent CA games I would prefer if another studio would make the 40k game because CA is likely to either screw it up or make bad design decisions, probably both.

Can't. The current engine already struggles with the unit sizes and the small maps. This kind of scaling would require a new engine and that's not something you whip up in a couple of years.

40K Total War sounds great but they will need to really improve the firearm unit gameplay because while it's not as bad as it was in WH2 or even early WH3, it is still pretty bad. With 40K style you would have factions with basically entire armies of handgunners/streltsi etc (imperial guard, tau....) and these units are difficult to get value from even in ideal circumstances

They can fast track a 40K Total War game and they will fail.

IF they don't account for, change and get on top of certain of issues that have vexed an ideal progression and outcome for both the game this forum is for, it's predecessor and any others released alongside. As we can see with this one in particular, insufficient prep beforehand has seen issues arise, half of which unsurprising to anybody taking notice. And even if many current are fixed before this run is over, it'll still have some outlying. Some things you just can't fix when any issues are integral to the design vs vision vs outcome.

Even then, as big a project as Warhammer into Total War was, as impossible as even CA's own mission statement might have seemed before the flawed proof we have... I cannot see even a passable stab at 40K being easy going. Too little and it may as well be any of a bunch of 40K games. Too much without adequate prep and it's a broken game. To do that IP the justice it truly deserves and make it not just another one of many 40K games is going to take 10x the everything that the Warhammer series is. This should be one to challenge everything CA are and have... but the CA of rn isn't the CA that made past prodigies look easy and with panache.

Agreed with TheALmightyProo, ive got dawn of war and Gladius.... The way they have been making TW games it will be another planet and and small scale.... just not interested with 40k. Go big or go home.

I'm not supporting CA. They suck, lmao.
Egro Mar 29, 2024 @ 10:34pm
There are better company who can make large scale 40k, so no. CA should just stick with historical.

If they paid attention to all this ^^^ gosh, I'd even preorder. *Shockhorror*

Imagine saying that doing a re-skin is the way to go! IF they do a re-skin they are going to fail horribly.

And if they dont do naval battles now you can be very sure they really wont do space battles at all.

I do not want a classical Total War for a 40K-game, I just dont. If they do that I am going to be very dissapointed. If they actually doing that I either want Supreme Commander with its massive scale or Ground Control/World in Conflict with a similar call-in system for troops (steel division with pre-made unit-decks can also work but less a fan of that), then we can talk.

But in any case either we are going to be limited to 1 map per planet, with very barebone mechanics in space between, or it is going to be set on a single planet. Both scenarios are bad imo.

Right now we are talking... going full scale 40k Epic.... even Star Wars Empire at War got this to a good extent. It has to be on that scale.

They're welcome to do so if they want, but 40k is of no interest to me. I like fantasy, not sci-fi. So if they're determined to build it up instead of developing WH3, then I'll be hopping off.
