Choose your trait
How difficult is it to allow the option to choose a trait when you recruit a lord or hero?

This allows for more customization and choice. Yes some of them are not that significant but still, it would be good to have that option and choose the traits you like.

I've seen a lot of save scumming to get desired traits (I do it myself) and other ...methods. If its because you don't abuse certain traits, then why are they available anyway and the save scumming will happen anyway.

Also, specific to the Warriors of Chaos and Daemons, is that you lose starting traits when ascending, which is another issue...

Just save a lord or hero with a trait you like so you can recruit them in every playthrough. CA introduced that feature at WH3 launch. Use it

you already get 3+ choices
x as many lord options there are
so 15 choices at this point?
at this point just install a cheat mod

I agree with you honestly, I feel like you should have a screen where you pick the variant you like and choose a starting trait for them. For ascension, daemon princes changing trait doesn't make sense to me either since it's the same character.

But the exalted daemons are actually a different character than the herald that summons them so I sort of understand them changing trait, but they could still let you pick the starting trait of the new character. That would make weaker traits like "opened eyes" for more exp worth taking because the trait is temporary anyway.

Yes exactly. A simple screen. There was this one mod for WH II that allowed you to do that. Couldn't play without it and can't unsee it. Hope they bring it back for WH III
Does the trait manager mod not let you select starting traits? I never used it myself, but I assumed it had every single trait in the game to choose from. That was ported over to 3 when IE came out

Cool. I need to check it out then. Haven't even started using mods with WHIII yet. I know if I open that box I'm gonna spend hours picking and trying out mods.

But the one in WH II let you pick from he generic traits that everyone gets as well as the unique faction ones but only for the faction you were playing as. It also allowed you to choose portraits, allocate some attribute points with a gold cost. So the more points you give to like melee defense or attack the more the lord costs when you recruit him.

There was also this cool little bonus the mod did by unlocking the High Elven lord who can cast spells but only from the High Magic Lore. The game had his files and all set up, he even has a casting animation with his sword. So you can choose to have a caster or melee male lord for the High Elves.
