Why delay age of reckoning?
I thought it would give me extra turns to max out the meter but it seems to just disable the mechanic for 10 turns. Why would I want to do this?

I think the idea was to have a 10 turn breathing room where you can just sit in your settlements building up.
the 10 turns in general is still a confusing choice to me
It's a trade-off between having to deal with a 20% increased threshold of grudges to earn for next age and getting yourself prepared to earn maximum amount of grudges that you can. Say you want to build up a second army, need to improve your economy or just move things into position ready to sack. It also allows grudges on enemy armies & settlements to build up.

The 10 turn cycle does feel a bit short at first but after getting about 40 turns into my Thorgrim campaign I get it. If it were easy to attain a high age score each time it would be far too overpowered. Dwarfs are pretty strong as it is and you'd just be able to flood your armies with grudge settler units that have cheaper upkeep when you finish an age with a high score. The other buffs or debuffs aren't that significant at the end of the day, except maybe the growth for early on.

In my campaign I finished the first age just short of achieving the 'Tromm' level, meaning I got minus control, growth etc. The following one I got 100% and suddenly powered up massively, & since then I've been achieving the middle ground. Now that I'm used to it, I've got a few armies in place ready to start sacking the Orcs & Skaven at the start of the next age to hopefully get the 100% again. All in all it feels balanced to not just allow you to get the maximum benefit every time, but it's not game ending if you get a low score either.
it ensures the benefits for your previous age of reckoning last 10 turns longer and also allows you the time you need to move across the map ans reposition yourself or recover your units before the next fight. This is generally most valuable when you reach the top 2 tiers.

Personally I find this is very useful on thorek ironbrow, as the 10 turns they give is enough time for you to move through kislev or across the empire to reach the more distant artifacts as well as giving you the time to build new armies and quash any weaker factions attacking your borders before you aim to make a massive push in the next age of reckoning.

I noticed I couldn't keep up with the grudge requirement and had some issues with public order.

But then I had a pretty good run and was able to fill up the whole thing and choose to delay the next age.

I thought "if I can't meet the quota anyway then let this good age last longer, who cares if the next one is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ one way or the other".

Don't know the outcome yet.
