Saving on Legendary

I didn't see it in the patch notes, but did they make changes to how saves happen on legendary? My game is only saving on end turns now and I appear to have the ability to manually save (kinda defeats the point of legendary). I see the Ironman mode in my settings but it won't let me check it mid campaign and why would that be off by default for legendary in the first place?

They just changed it so now Ironman mode is separate from Legendary difficulty. I guess as a way to make it more accessible to others. I do agree that it kind of ruins the point of the mode, but oh well you can always mark it for yourself and have the same challenge.

Personally I like the change, I like playing iron man so I don't save scum but I don't always want to deal with the legendary foibles, in particular the battlemap restrictions drive me nuts

I'm 50/50 on it. It's great that now I won't get screwed over by some ridiculous crash or bug that has ruined several of my legendary campaigns but also breaks the whole "legendary" aspect of the difficulty. Personally, I never save scum anyway so I'll probably just keep it unchecked but just play like I always do and only roll back if I encounter a game ending crash.
