Malakai Makaisson voice acting
Having read the Slayer books MANY times over the years, I always imagined Malakai Makaisson's voice to be a bit stronger with the Dwarven (Scottish) accent than what he's been given hear. I'm sure though it was done this way to make him more understandable but I kinda wish he didn't sound like a generic dawi.

I'm pretty sure Warhammer Dwarfs aren't supposed to really have Scottish accents. Scottish Dwarves is more of a Warcraft thing.

GW has said dwrafs have a Yorkshire accent

I did not expect Gotrek to sound so happy either. Kinda like Bardin Goreksson.

To be honest I probably couldn't tell the difference between a Scottish and Yorkshire accent. But reading the Slayer novels, it gives the impression of a thick Scottish accent for Malakai, Felix even has some trouble understanding him in the beginning, I know I had to re-read some of his lines to understand him.

he sounds roughly the same as he did in the audiobook versions of the slayer novels and since thats how i experienced them it was pretty neat

To be fair there are lots of different groups of British people you can barely or can't understand even among themselves. In fact I'm pretty it makes up a big part of their comedy.

for most people, difference between northern and scottish accent is irrelevant, both sounds incoherent :P

That's true for most dwarfs but Malakai is specifically noted as being from the far northern vales where they have highland (read: Scottish highland) accents, which is why the entirety of his dialogue is written in dialect: Wi' a lo' ah apostr'phes and exaggera'ed spellin's to help make et clear tha' the glottal sounds are quite strong in 'is voice.

William King more or less said he modelled the Malakai voice after Billy Connolly, which is also part of why Malakai is generally quite chipper and friendly (as dwarfs go, when he's not being completely mental with his machines). If you need another reference, go look up David Tennant doing Scrooge McDuck and that's pretty much Malakai's proper voice.

It's also disappointing since they went full Brian Blessed with Gotrek, whose voice is always great even if it's also not really much like pre-AOS Gotrek either (described in the older books as having a flinty, grinding stone-esque voice rather than PRINCE VULTAN GORDON'S ALIVE BRIAN BLESSED.)

The voice they ended up using in the game for Malakai is perfectly adequate I suppose but a let down with what it could have been. It'd be fine for any other Dwarf character, just not the fun I was hoping for. At least it's decent, Felix got shafted with a very bland voice.
