Anyway, thanks for the answer. I guess I have to reinstall the game, since I can't afford to delete anything from the disk.
The size of the download isn't the issue. Its Steam's patching process combined with the games architecture.
This game is archived into compressed larger files. Changes made needs to unpack any of these large files effected, make the changes, and repack the large files. At the same time Steam requires a backup copy of all files being changed during patching.
The end result is that it requires huge amount of space for the patching process, but once everything is said and done it requires less space then other solutions would have (For example: It doesn't leave unused old code laying around like it would if they just added files that overwrote old code but didn't remove it).
if you download a 5mb patch and it touches a 50gb file then the ENTIRE 50gb file needs to be copied , changed , and copied over the old file , 30 years ago patches skipped the copying part and patched files directly but this ended for many people in a corrupt or buggy game because something happened and verification couldnt be done prior applying changes. this did mean a entire fresh reinstall of the game.
My recommendation is , leave 30% of a SSD free ( anyway a good idea for load leveling of the ssd internally ) if your SSD gets too small its time to upgrade
Yeah I totally get it. The 106 GB is like a temp swap folder as it patches in the new data and the files are broken down into deposits so even a small patch can end up affecting most of the files. Just saying that the updates have caught me out now and then by not having enough space, ideally I need to remember to leave at least 150 GB free.
Simple solution : uninstall the game, then reinstall it, so you only need the base 110GB size and not double (or 1.5x not sure)
