Quite the feat.
I keep using them in end game balanced armies with Vampire Coast !
Just one or two without any boost feels like a wasted slot
Lol yes, thought she have been big time nerfed from wh2, she used to have bunchs of explosives fragments upon each shot fired, not anymore.
The most powerful damage wise artilleries are rather on the chorf side now
Artillery can be pretty devastating but you need to have it hitting the right targets. Every piece is different after all. If you shoot cannons at infantry you had better be out of proper targets. They excel at killing enemy artillery actually as a primary role and then mostly pounding on bigger easier to hit targets.
Catapults tend to be my fav as anti infantry is pretty much always relevant, skaven plagueclaws are just value machines and well worth a sketchy alliance to acquire. Greenskins doomdivers are also value machines with those homing armour peircing projectiles racking up a ton of value pretty much always. The hellblasters on the wagons from that empire RoR is pretty sick too and as you've already stated the Luminarch of Hysh is quite a good artillery peice. Any Rocket spam artillery also is a top contender for the same reason catapults tend to be.
First, You get your army outside the walls and fight them there while your artillery kills the enemy army outside.
Second, You got a huge location inside the walls where you can lure all the enemy armies there and kill them with artillery.
Aside from these 2 situations Artillery always sucks in Siege battles.
I have no clue whether they are good.
It’s because city siege battles have lots of choke points where you could force tons of enemy units to be clustered at one place.
I remember playing Attila Total War and you could manually control catapults like it was a first person shooter. I had a few spear units hold a choke point while I manually bombarded the choke point. I’d easily get 30 kills per shot, each shot turning entire groups of enemies into red goo in a single hit. I think there were battles where I could get 700 kills from just 1 catapult unit.
Wait ,what??? You can STILL DO IT??? But there’s no button! There used to be a button that lets you do it! So now it’s a hotkey? Oh man this is when the advisor should pop out and tell me about things like that. I really had no idea. Ok this changes everything those chaos knights are about to get wrecked
