Thoughts on latest Leaks for next 3 DLC?

Watched LegendofTotalWars latest video on 3 latest leaks. Won't post link here but can find on YouTube easy enough.

Next 3 allegedly in sequence:

1. Lords of Shangyang - Ogres and Tigermen legendary lords and Golf*ag
2. Dogs of War - Borgio / Lucrezzia and maybe Dachala
3. Monkey King / Wukong Lord and maybe Li Dao

Pretty interesting line up i'd say that looks to fill out the Cathay areas.

Dont care for whether people like Legend or not. But the leaks do warrant some discourse.

How come Lizardmen can get back to back dlcs and skaven are almost back to back (had a dlc and then another dlc), but it would be a disgrace for Cathay?

I think main issue is that part of the map is a bit sparse with factions, Cathay needs a bit more going on there with its regional flavour.

A lot of it just seems fake, with Legend just trying to drive clickbait/drama content, as they're prone to do from time to time.

Well there is possibility for that.

Golf*ag has already been found in latest game files along with some Dogs of War stuff, we know that one person has already been credited for voicing or mocapping tigermen. And CA themselves have hinted Hotpots and Monkey king....

So those are definitely imminent regardless of what order they come in.

One of the arguments I've seen and am willing to consider, for the fact that this leak is fake is that the monkey king is called "Sun Wukong." This doesn't fit GW's "we should name our stuff in a way we can copyright" attitude towards their products (reminder, they changed Orcs to Orks cuz that's what they could licence). Given that whatever is thrown into TWWH3 is likely to be sold as part of the Old World for Cathay, they'll want their own version they can copyright, not directly named from the "Journey to the West" story.

It's possible that things could change between now and release, but I would be very doubtful in that regard.

From a business standpoint, this doesn't sound good.

The lords of Shanghai, it sounds like some made-up nonsense.

Let's consider that Thrones of Decay was big because they knew it would sell. Empire is a given, and so are the dwarfs. If I were going to throw some DLC that is going to make share holders and fans happy, why also showing an increase in sales? Its going to be for factions that will get me there. Cathy is liked but not loved, and ogre fans will be cheated with this switch. It is too risky considering the past. 

Slaanesh vs. High Elves and Khorne vs. Vampire Counts DLCs are far safer bets. Dogs of war are a safer bet. The ogres vs. monkey king is even a safer bet than this Lords of Shangyang nonsense. If we consider DLC's are running out and the business needs to turn out good numbers, we should lead with our big hitters and not gamble on some new stuff. Hyena's didn't do well; why would they repeat this kind of thinking? 

Why I won't say it isn't going to happen because stuff does happen; it wouldn't be a good call. We have Lendary Lord's people have been looking forward to that they should lead with. Dogs of War is a big hitter; Nagash is a big hitter; Neferata, Thanquol, Tetto'ekko, Moonclaw, Josef Bugman, Belannaer, Sea Lord Aislinn, and Apophas <--- so many big hitters

Dachala as a FLC? maybe?  not a smart move from a business perspective. Notice Khorne isn't in there? makes no sense. Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast sold well; even some made-up Lords from them would be less risky than taking a faction like the ogre and pasting them into Cathy. 

I think these rumors are nonsense, but if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but it makes no real sense to pound at two made-up LL's that most people are going to be indifferent to when you can have more guaranteed money with LL's people want, ask for, and have hinted about.

Yes there is the argument to be made in getting in some of the big outstanding names and dogs of war is the last official tabletop faction to do. Though many of these factions really belong in the old world and new world.... there are a couple you have mentioned there that could be sensibly explained for their world travel like sea lord aislinn.

There is still the thoughts for the hinted special 100th legendary lord which is very soon, if they are still planning to do something for that.... think we up to around 96 now?

The one thing i see is that Cathay and all the other surrounding regions are sparse with factions and really could do with its regions and cultures being expanded. Still a very empty landmass with Cathay itselff, then Ind and Kuresh and wouln't be all that enthralling if it were just high elves, dark elves, lizardmen etc.... Theres also the jade vampires that could show up at some point if the discussion moves towards undead.

I think we will still see Slaanesh and Khorne DLC's, but alot odf people have complained that chaos getting all the love even though they barely got any in games 1 & 2, but hey ho.

Considering they changed Baba Yaga to Mother Ostankya, there's almost zero chance that the monkey king will be Sun Wukong.

The only part of that "leak" that sounded remotely realistic was the part about Ogres getting a DLC, because we've seen how many people have been complaining about them and asking for them to get a DLC for months now.

Here's a tip for you all, if you see a leak and it sounds delusional or like it was written by a forum troll or doomer, then it's safe to say it's probably fake ;)

I really hope so, the problem with it is the leak is too detailed (names of DLC, lords, heroes, units). Guess the first test will be the Ogre/Tigermen. That one is supposedly very far into production (According to CA themselves) so we'll hear about it in a month or 2

Yeah i wouldn't jump to the conclusion that i been duped by a leak, i'm asking the thoughts of others on such news. Nothing wrong with speculating and challenging these. I think this is good healthy discourse.

Not all of these carry water. Some of it turns out to be false, some not accurate and some simply get changed. There has been several instances of these that have been correct. So i'm always of mind that its not anything until officially confirmed.

Could just be that GW are still quietly working on the lore/background for their Monkey King character and CA are just using Sun WuKong as a code name for the project. That does seem to be more how Legend worded it.

The real test to see if what Legend said was accurate will simply be if the Lords of Shenyang comes out pretty much in the exact state he describes. Beyond that he does at least cover himself by saying the the rest are far enough away that they could be heavily subject to change.
