Should I play mono god faction before WoC?
I'm really interested playing WoC but it feels like they have such an immense roster.
I never played any of the mono god chaos factions.
Should i maybe play them first to get to know their rosters better before i play a factions that combines all of them?
I know that's most likely a matter of taste, i'm asking for opinions here what the smarter thing to do would be.

There are monogod WoC factions that might be the best of both worlds for you.

Monogod factions rely more on campagin mechanic than specyfic units. Limiting their rooster also makes game more interesting as you can't just spam same overpored unit types, but honestly it's just down to personal preference.

while they use some of the same units, they are pretty different campaigns
so just play what seems the most fun to you

They don't play anything alike (monogod vs CoC).

The CoC roster isn't so large; you'll be recruiting a lot of the same units and levelling them up to higher tier units (make sure to get the chaos gift that buffs marauders). You will get some demonic units, but the majority of your units will still be mortals.

You also have forttresses where you can build up, but they're spread out; most provinces only give you the equivalent of a wood-elf outpost. You'll also be vassalizing a lot of factions.

The actual monogod factions can build up every territory like more traditional factions, but they all have unique mechanics. Slaanesh plays the longer game with conquering factions with cults. Khorne just kills everything and burns most settlements down. Tzeench is a toolbox of dirty tricks and ambushes. Nurgle is...well Nurgle needs some work, but he's fun if you like spreading Nurgle's love, and a very slow but sturdy mass of units.

Easiest CoC to play first? I'd say Archie or maybe Dragonogres, though all the CoC can be fun.

U should play whichever faction intrigues u the most. Most ppl would just pick their first chaos faction depending on which god they like the most.
Now if it comes to WoC roster, it only looks huge on paper, but in reality its mostly the same units but with different "marks" which add a bit of flavor, but the unit is mostly the same (ie. chaos warrior is still just a chaos warrior, iregardless of which color he paints his armor).

The only faction that i would recomend to play later is Daniel (deamons of chaos), since he actualy has the overbloated roster, having access to everything and all that, so a beginner might be a bit lost in that....

Monogods play a bit more like normal factions with minors settlements and normal recruitment. One thing the others havent mentioned is how bordergorey WOC is, since taking most territory for yourself besides dark fortresses and regions with trade goods is more of a hinderance than a boon most of the time it seems.

I used their immense roster to get an ultimate victory without being bored of my mind by the end.
