It's good you're a new player,
it's bad you're not trying to understand how they work first and just relay on random people advices.
(And tbh, you're better looking for those kind of informations on YT or else than on Steam with all the obviously-experts at this game)
1x Lord (any)
1x Alchemist
1x Astromancer
1x Celestial Lion
2x Onyx Crowmen
4x Jade Warriors
2x Jade Halberds
6x Jade Crossbows
So these are 18 units, fill with whatever you prefer. Jade / Jet Lion, more infantry, artillery, sky lantern, or the new Gate Keeper hero.
The Celestial Lion is a cheap siege attacker, also super useful flying unit with a debuff. Working in tandem with 1-2 Crowmen units, can generally replace Cavalry so you can skip that building line for most of the early game.
And of course the unit counts are all variable. Like having 4 archer units is mostly sufficent if you know what you're doing, example when you add Fire Rain Rocket batteries.
Peasant units are also good if you're short on money. You should be able to recruit them at gold rank with that one Control building in a province. So you could take 2x peasant archers and 2x jade crossbows, and so on.
line of crossbows behind that
line of snipers behind that
line of cannons behind that
maybe some cav or something big to counter cav
Those things make everything easier.
