Just watching the AI defend, definitely this.
Doesn't matter where their archers are facing, if your units get in range they can fire on them.
It goes like this:
Remember how in rome total war 1 Archers would hide in cover, move from cover to shoot then get back in cover?
Lost technology.
Remember how we used to have buildings change as they where replaced by your cultures building?
Lost technology.
Remember when we had seasons?
Lost technology.
Remember when population was used for troops.
Lost technology.
I have said it many times.
Total war warhammer sells because it is warhammer.
Not because it is total war.
As total war has a well earned reputation of having less features in newer games and putting limits on mods to prevent modders from doing a better job then the dev's.
Remember how we were able to build buildings that provided weapon or armor upgrades that were actually visualized in battles?
...
Aw man, your list made me nostalgic *sniff*
No you dont want to do that bc your archers are dead long before the gate is breached - unless you talk about an another game, this here is the TWWH3 forum and in that game walls are not much more than a indefensable minor speedbump, sad as it is.
Or you are the attacker ... then you want your archers on the wall asap.
