It’s a lot more work than you’d think
for most 4x this is basic but then again some actually still try.
but for me this is kinda at the bodom of ♥♥♥♥ CA should put their heavily reduced time and effort in
Indeed, the not Pacific... though I'd hope with any further/global expansion to the map some more sea might be added there for effect, even if most travel would still be sea lanes etc.
Fwiw and technically, given the land:sea ratio of the current map compared to our irl homeworld it should be a far drier more arid world but yeah... I can understand why the oceans are cut short in game; to prevent boredom and cover for the lack of naval/fleet combat etc. Tbf real world old time naval stuff was as boring... a sail of weeks or months to get a battle of a few hours, and that's if opposing fleets were in the right place at the right time when missing one another by 50 or 500 miles was the same difference lol
No.
It's flat just like our world. Keep the realism please.
"Yeah man, so like, here me out, I got this groovy idea ... oh? ... no, I don't plan to pay or work on it, that's someone else's job. I'M THE IDEA MAN, GET ME"
Simply disgusting.
If you want, I could explain all the different technical issues that would arise from such a task, so ask me nicely, and I will. Pinky promise!
Europa Universalis IV's looping map, however, is much more feasible, and would benefit the AI (which can't use sea lanes).
i was thinking about EU4 map too !
something like that you kindof need to envision at the start
the start of the engine, not the game, wich is decades ago at this point
the sea lanes is the best you can really hope for, without them investing an unreasonable amount of money in programmer time, for fairly little benefit
tho ai using the sea lanes would be a good thing they could look into
