Game has new mechanics and changes. Might also help knowing which Dwarf faction you're playing as.
Red bat wings, sounds like Valkia
You take instant attrition damage in Warhammer 3 if a enemy lays siege. The problem is, like previous games, attrition damage occurs for everyone when the new turn starts, which is when you the player gets control.
Sounds like your main army was in forced march, which causes your unit's to be very tired at the start and can never have higher better then that. This was a thing in game 1 as well.
Now we really know you're facing Valkia.
Valkia is one of the better fighters, befitting Khorne. She however will not solo Grombrindal. Your starting runesmith will get murdered by her, true. But not Grombrindal. There is simply no way she will solo a hammerer unit, with Grombrindal and a runepriest on her own in the early game. Not if these unit's are even remotely healthy.
Sounds like you were already quite damaged prior.
How about you learn from your mistakes and strive not to make them again? What Ancestor did you invoke for your army?
What unit's did you recruit. Seeing as you claim you had a 20 stack, it has to be turn 8 orso.
Did you use the abilties of the runepriest, like the +24 melee attack. Did you properly surround Valkia when she swooped in, or did you let her get free hits in.
What was Valkia her army.
Etc etc.
''I can't believe I bought all the DLC for this crap.'' That's your fault for dumping your hard earned money on an expensive game and its DLC without making any research, without looking at reviews or even learn the basics. You gambled and lost. Companies love your type of customer
Difficulty balancing on the other hand has been an ongoing problem with this title as many players feel that it is too easy on higher difficulties and you are hardly the first player to come in whining about getting stomped on normal or easy.
its still a tough fight, but if he mismanaged it enough its doable
sometimes more isnt better
Good luck and Have fun!
