Why does the AI cheat so much?
I played an extensive campaign as the dwarves in TW:WH I, so I'm not totally unfamiliar with how it all works.

Anyway, I just took the plunge on WH III and launched a game as the dwarves again, to re-familiarize.

The game is on default settings, whatever they are.

So, after I capture my 3rd territory, the faction with red bat wings on their shield declared war on me, and attacked me directly.

I was able to place my main army into the town just before the bat wings laid seige.

Cheat 1: When my turn starts, my units are already damaged from the siege, as if I had chosen to wait inside the castle for a turn.

I sally forth.

Cheat 2: My army starts the battle ranging from tired to very tired. By the time the fighting starts they are mostly exhausted.

My 30 units (10 from garrison) were easily routed by their 20 units. And their faction leader flew directly to my faction leader, where she soloed him, my starting hero and the elite hammer unit. Her health was down by half when they were all dead.

Why would anyone want to play this?

You want to discourage dwarves steamrolling the map, have all the nearby factions dog pile on them. Not this.

I can't believe I bought all the DLC for this crap.

sounds like not knowing game mechanics and instead of looking them up and learning blaming it on cheating

git gud lol

Because making intelligent ai takes effort, and SEGA doesnt give a F. Instead of making ai more intelligent the higher the difficulty, the higher the difficulty the more ai is allowed to cheat. It's the same in Company of Heroes.

They have changed a lot from WH1, everything you are describing seems to be game mechanics that the player has equal access to.
Sarumoon Jan 6, 2024 @ 5:56pm
it needs to cheat 10x more. Game is auto click easy right now, and every mod just seems to be made to make it easier.

weirdest part is the suggested fix being the main problem the game has

Gamers today eager to cry cheating rather than understand how things work

Those saying I am ignorant of the mechanics were too lazy to read the post they were commenting on.

maybe try playing vampires before making claims

Let's deconstruct this a bit.

Game has new mechanics and changes. Might also help knowing which Dwarf faction you're playing as.

Red bat wings, sounds like Valkia

You take instant attrition damage in Warhammer 3 if a enemy lays siege. The problem is, like previous games, attrition damage occurs for everyone when the new turn starts, which is when you the player gets control.

Sounds like your main army was in forced march, which causes your unit's to be very tired at the start and can never have higher better then that. This was a thing in game 1 as well.

Now we really know you're facing Valkia.
Valkia is one of the better fighters, befitting Khorne. She however will not solo Grombrindal. Your starting runesmith will get murdered by her, true. But not Grombrindal. There is simply no way she will solo a hammerer unit, with Grombrindal and a runepriest on her own in the early game. Not if these unit's are even remotely healthy.

Sounds like you were already quite damaged prior.

How about you learn from your mistakes and strive not to make them again? What Ancestor did you invoke for your army?
What unit's did you recruit. Seeing as you claim you had a 20 stack, it has to be turn 8 orso.
Did you use the abilties of the runepriest, like the +24 melee attack. Did you properly surround Valkia when she swooped in, or did you let her get free hits in.
What was Valkia her army.

Etc etc.

The AI cheats, but none of what you describe is the AI cheating, it's just you being bad.
Tech-52 Jan 6, 2024 @ 6:40pm
The AI does actually cheat a lot because CA didn't bother to make it better since Attila but from what you are describing the problem isn't the AI but your understanding of the game mechanics. All those you described could have been avoided.

''I can't believe I bought all the DLC for this crap.'' That's your fault for dumping your hard earned money on an expensive game and its DLC without making any research, without looking at reviews or even learn the basics. You gambled and lost. Companies love your type of customer

Nope I read it, I would correct you point by point but Rainne already beat me to it. If you are playing on normal difficulty the AI cheats are actually pretty minimal.

Difficulty balancing on the other hand has been an ongoing problem with this title as many players feel that it is too easy on higher difficulties and you are hardly the first player to come in whining about getting stomped on normal or easy.

if she had gorefeast already, the hammerers and runepriest might have gotten in the way of grombrindal enough to let her regen enough for her to beat him
its still a tough fight, but if he mismanaged it enough its doable

sometimes more isnt better

The first thing is WH3 does play differently than previous games, it does take some getting used to. The transition has left some of my favorite factions "ruined" BUT other factions are now much more fun to play. It is a mixed bag, as a side note Thorgrim is much easier in the early game now with Grimgor far away.

Good luck and Have fun!
