but in all seriousness, u mostly use them as chewing toys if anything, just send them in, let the enemy blob at them, giving u some time to shot them....
and the only reason to get bears over incarnations is if u dont have the dlc, thats about it
As a big monster, it is actually quite good at tying up stuff.

How exactly do you punish ranged or artillery or make something into a bullet sponge. You cant exactly force someone to attack it. Incarnate Elemental of Beasts can tank close to as much as the bear but also kills stuff.
thats a chunky boy
This is the most practical use in my opinion.
That being said, I still don't go out of my way to recruit them.
And the summoned version from the invocation of the homeland is a nice, expendable damage sponge.
That being said, the bear should have missile resist in my opinion.
What I don't understand is this. People compare it to the elemental bear, which is more of a tanking monster then a damage monster.
Why are people not comparing the Incarnate elemental of beasts to the Ghorgon? They both have the exact same role, being a anti large monster, the incarnate can also be used to clear infantry AND it has higher damage AND a mortis engine AND higher anti large AND magical attacks AND more charge bonus AND it's unbreakable compared to a Ghorgon.
Mind you, for MP, the Incarnate even costs 200 less for the Beastmen then the Ghorgon.
The incarnate should lose around 1000 to 1500 hp and lose 200 weapon strength.
Incarnates are indeed better, but they are also DLC. They also die faster (T4 vs T5), but are faster them selves and have a spell damage aura.
However, that does not mean Elemental Bears are bad on their own, or that they are not decent bullet sponges, or can brutalize ranged and artillery units.
I also didn't really recruit them much unless I needed a siege attacker in a bear rider army as they could keep up better than artillery but found they generally get focused down pretty quick. As a single entity with a large HP pool it is a great target for % based healing that Kislev the priests have but in practice they just come they were just a bit clunky to use and were over-costed IMO.
If you do not have SoC, though, tehy are decent as a 1 or 2 off in an Ice Guard army, since those girls can use the big HP mass to hold out while they annihilate everything with Frost Arrows.
