Wait I thought we wanted more time in the oven so we got more content or something? Did I miss a meeting?
OT this is not an unpopular request. People have asked for this feature for a long time.
which army painter? Community should be proud pirate cove bug has come back last patch
I also want them to take their time with each new update to minimize the number of things that are broken and not fixed. And this army painter is not something that needs to appear before the new DLC. Keyword: MAYBE not MUST BE.
No, it can be released at any time, even after support ends in the last patch. It's a small thing, but Mirror of Madness is also like that, and if they added this, why not that?
Lots of ideas expressed by players are solid but priorities should be set and painting imo is bottom of the barrel.
I would rather have Cathay maps performing better or some other bugs/optimization fixes that are reported by many players since spring 2022.
Can you do it anyway?
Yeah, you can mod the colors of factions. There's mods that do that for you, too.
Okay, the answer here has a few logical steps to it.
First, this is licenced from GW, and CA is recreating existing factions. The factions have fixed designs and CA has the licence to recreate it but not alter existing content; they have limited freedom.
In Warhammer 40k, you are much more at liberty to design your own faction. There's thousands of minor space marine chapters so you can create your own faction and colors, no problem. (And mostly every faction has a similar feature.). That's why that makes sense in Dawn of War. If you play ultramarines, they are smurfs, you can't make them green, for instance - but you can have a successor chapter of the ultramarines that are just green ultramarines. (Although, 3 color rule.).
Therefore, just because it's in DoW doesn't mean it can be in Warhammer Fanatsy, especially since we're dealing with the major factions.
it's roughly the same situation - we play the major factions that has defined color schemes, and GW doesn't like altering major factions' color schemes. Individual lords and their armies are fine though.
Could CA do it anyway?
I suspect yeah. CA have, or at least had, a fairly good working relationship with GW. GW are not a fan of modding, but CA insisted and managed to get that approved eventually, for instance. So, GW are not completely inflexible - but one thing they do NOT like is altering existing content, so .. it would be a bit of a tough sell. However, if CA had to spend their 'influence points' on something, I think most would rather it was spent on Ind, Kuresh, new content, etc.
There may be technical limitations - the Total War engine isn't designed with a painter, so they'd have to kludge something together, but there's again strongly competing interests for engine modification resources - bug fixing, new gameplay features, etc.
I mean, if playing Ogre Kingdoms I have the choice for brown, or slightly darker brown. Yet Ai factions have far more vibrant colors, like red, purple etc.
Which you can pick for pvp and custom battles.
I would like them to release the DLC in two weeks time.
But if I don't get it in a few days I'll be pissed!
How ever they should take their time and spend a few months on it to really polish it.
But if it takes more than a week to release there'll be all the Hells to pay!
