CA add an army painter.
Why won't you add something like Dawn of War feature where you could paint your own troops in game but for Warhammer Fantasy? It would reduce the need to use reskin mods and would give more personal touch to each new campaign playthrough. You added Mirror of Madness or something like that so you could do things like that. Maybe do it before Thrones of Delay ...ekhem I mean Decay.

Wait I thought we wanted more time in the oven so we got more content or something? Did I miss a meeting?

OT this is not an unpopular request. People have asked for this feature for a long time.

Mirrors was an Intel thing, and they got money for promotion. GeeDubs will never pay them for adding army painter since they were stupid enough to kill the franchise this game is based on and now they are trying to back down but not really. Long story short - never gonna happen.

Oh? I woke up this morning and just thought about it. I haven't seen posts like this before, so I thought it was an unpopular (because it's just my) opinion, but hey, if I'm not the one, then it's good.
I also want them to take their time with each new update to minimize the number of things that are broken and not fixed. And this army painter is not something that needs to appear before the new DLC. Keyword: MAYBE not MUST BE.
No, it can be released at any time, even after support ends in the last patch. It's a small thing, but Mirror of Madness is also like that, and if they added this, why not that?

I rather have a delay and get quality.
Lots of ideas expressed by players are solid but priorities should be set and painting imo is bottom of the barrel.
I would rather have Cathay maps performing better or some other bugs/optimization fixes that are reported by many players since spring 2022.

People have been asking for an army painter for ages.
There was an interview with a former CA Warhammer Dev a while ago and they confirmed that way back in WH1 CA was working on an Army Painter. It got scrapped early in development and they haven't attempted to finish it ever since. Sadly I just don't think it's a priority right now, but maybe in the future.

If anything it'd only be used for custom battles

So... realistically speaking, it's a change that is unlikely to happen, mostly due to boring reasons. I did write up an explanation, but that's really all you need to know.

Can you do it anyway?
Yeah, you can mod the colors of factions. There's mods that do that for you, too.

Okay, the answer here has a few logical steps to it.

First, this is licenced from GW, and CA is recreating existing factions. The factions have fixed designs and CA has the licence to recreate it but not alter existing content; they have limited freedom.

In Warhammer 40k, you are much more at liberty to design your own faction. There's thousands of minor space marine chapters so you can create your own faction and colors, no problem. (And mostly every faction has a similar feature.). That's why that makes sense in Dawn of War. If you play ultramarines, they are smurfs, you can't make them green, for instance - but you can have a successor chapter of the ultramarines that are just green ultramarines. (Although, 3 color rule.).

Therefore, just because it's in DoW doesn't mean it can be in Warhammer Fanatsy, especially since we're dealing with the major factions.
it's roughly the same situation - we play the major factions that has defined color schemes, and GW doesn't like altering major factions' color schemes. Individual lords and their armies are fine though.

Could CA do it anyway?
I suspect yeah. CA have, or at least had, a fairly good working relationship with GW. GW are not a fan of modding, but CA insisted and managed to get that approved eventually, for instance. So, GW are not completely inflexible - but one thing they do NOT like is altering existing content, so .. it would be a bit of a tough sell. However, if CA had to spend their 'influence points' on something, I think most would rather it was spent on Ind, Kuresh, new content, etc.

There may be technical limitations - the Total War engine isn't designed with a painter, so they'd have to kludge something together, but there's again strongly competing interests for engine modification resources - bug fixing, new gameplay features, etc.

Seems completely unnecessary, assuming that all factions already have the correct colors from the original tabletop game

A army painter / color selection has been on my wishlist since game one.

I mean, if playing Ogre Kingdoms I have the choice for brown, or slightly darker brown. Yet Ai factions have far more vibrant colors, like red, purple etc.

Which you can pick for pvp and custom battles.

I wouldn't mind this feature, Army painting is part of the core when it comes to warhammer after all.

I had no idea that ogres are so boring in terms of colour. I have not purchased any DLC since W3 release. Gee that is just pure lazines considering the fact that this was pre order bonus. LAZY af.

Yeah but how many of the people playing warhammer are hardcore tabletop fans. Couple percent maybe? For most of us it does not matter if that army is pink or gray. Bah most of us would love to have an option to change individual units, lords or RoR colors without the need of installing reskin mods.

I would like them to release the DLC in two weeks time.

But if I don't get it in a few days I'll be pissed!

How ever they should take their time and spend a few months on it to really polish it.

But if it takes more than a week to release there'll be all the Hells to pay!
