Eye of the Vortex vs Realm of Chaos. What's your preference?
Hi there, just a friendly discussion thread.

What is your preferred story campaign? In my opinion I am enjoying Realm of Chaos more then Eye of the Vortex.

Currently playing Skaven Queek Headtaker on Very Hard/Very Hard on Eye of Vortex but am having problems taking out the Lizard-men, any advice would be appreciated.

As well playing Skarband on Hard/Hard on Realm of Chaos and trying to take of Sleenesh to the north but am having problems with that, any army composition tips would be appreciated.

None of both. I dislike these mini campaigns, even though Vortex is/was a lot better than the initial release version of RoC. I don't know how it is now, since I haven't touched RoC after IE came out. I just want more and good IE content.

honestly dont even remember the vortex campaign, while the tension of the original pre nerf realm race is something thats memorable
so pretty easy to see wich one i prefer
sadly they made the race less and less relevant for people who just wanted immortal empires on a smaller map
so now by pandering to people who would never have been happy anyway its become irrelevant for the people who did like it

They're both ♥♥♥♥.

I do really like the Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast campaigns on Vortex though. Chaos Dwarfs on Realm is great as well. Based on those campaigns I'd probably say Vortex > Realm. Plus the Vortex map was actually good. I hate the weird twisted map that Realm uses. But yeah, definitely not the base faction campaigns on either!

I like realms more cause I don't have to bother with currency and rituals. Assuming we're talking about base campaigns. Realms is more go conquer and have realms pop up occasionally. If you really wanted you you could just deny a race from getting the last one all game long while conquering. You can really conquer at your own pace can't do that with vortex if you're trying to win. Sure you can stop rituals I guess.

I think realms was just hated more cause I think the player base prefers Mortal Empires and IE free campaigns where you can roam and do what you want. And ended up kicking up a stink when it was obvious IE wasn't going to be a week/month after release like people told themselves it would be. Get used to eating like a king for a long time and suddenly get mid tier stuff isn't fun.

Vortex because it's not a race.

I enjoyed vortex at least once for each of the races that were in it. I enjoyed RoC like once period. Both game modes have their merits and neither is without flaws. I also did not play TWW2 at launch so it had been cleaned up quite a bit by the time I got to it... they are still cleaning up this game and it feels like the RoC campaign is at best an afterthought with regard to balancing and stuff going forward.

The lizardmen are going to almost universally have stronger units and unless you have some of the DLC units you may have a problem winning 1v1 matchups even if you get the ambush off. This is where you can just drown them in numbers. Bring 4 armies of fodder to take out one of theirs. Always more besides.

Have not personally played much Skarbrand but my understanding of it is just keep fighting. More armies, more battles, more blood, more skulls. Don't worry about defending territory or developing a sustainable economy. Just make armies and send them out to fight. If you are fighting enough you should get more than enough income from post battle loot to keep the ball rolling. Also portal hopping with Skarbrand was super beneficial but not sure if it's possible in the current build.

I liked going into the Chaos Realms in RoC. I really miss the different maps and apocalypse magics. I was hoping with the new factions that we'd still have reasons to go into the Realms even if we weren't doing launch story.

RoC is more fun and Harder in most cases.

I liked RoC over vortox. The issue I had with vortox was the randomly spawning deathballs of armies, that were just unfun to chase to down, and could spawn anywhere (as far as i could tell) so there was not strategy late game. if they spawned near your lightning strike lords with strong armies, cool, easy, otherwise, they wreak you until said lords can get there.

RoC has armies spawning too, but its more predictable, and evenly spread, and they even patched in counterplay with blocking portals. Tzeentch is a bad realm, particularly once you realise there are optimal routes, and the AI cheats it. but the rest are cool, so there are a few minor annoyances, but over all it's cool.
It's biggest problem is it can be optimal to not expand, and only have 1-2 regions, since you can do anything from anywhere, but that's really just saying it's cheesable, if you don't try to cheese it, and try to play normally, while going into the realms, it's pretty fun.

Neither, though I prefer the Vortex campaign map due to it having Lustria in al lit's glory.

Though, if we're speaking narrative? RoC over vortex by a landslide. But that's a 1 time deal.

I prefer Vortex. Because it requires mobilization, enrichment, time management and its completion takes place in a more satisfactory time.

ROC you can stay in your home province, and enter the nearest portal. It doesn't demand much from the player. Completion time is very long and boring.
The campaign does not have an appeal.

I like RoC a bit more than Vortex.
But it's also totally dependant on which faction I play.
I love lizard vortex campaign, and I love patriarchy RoC campaign.
Tzeentch and deamon prince follow suit.

Vortex of course, its not even a competion at this point, RoC is just bottom tier garbage

VOrtex!

The point to abandom you main army for many many turns is totaly garbage.

Maximum nonsense
