what can i do for shorter loading screens?
i was hoping it would be fine on HDD but i can already see that i have to make space on my SSD. aside of that, any other things i can do? loading screens atm are about 2-3 minutes

Mine goes on for about 5-6 mins, if i add the 4k HD texture packs it can take up to 15 mins (on my HDD), unfortunately i don't think there is a way around long load times unless you go mod free, takes me about 40 seconds if i deactivate all my mods. I heard that dumping all your mod PAK files in the data folder is ment to make it go faster, but doing so made no change in speed at all to my loading time.

get yourself a blackhole, stay within the gravity well of black hole while keeping your pc out of it, it wont make the loading faster, but from your perspective it will be nearly instant...

thats a very interesting approach to view this problem

CPU speed.
SSD speed.
Mod count.

These are the only considerations.

SSD will feel very different to a HDD.
But not all SSD's are the same so it can vary (poor to really quite quick).

Going from HDD to SSD will be a massive difference. Going from a sata SSD to an nvme M2 SSD will be an even bigger difference than that.

If you have an SSD, yeah, put it on that. While it doesn't say an SSD is recommended, really, it is unless you have the patience of a saint.

The game does use the memory you have, so the other option is to have a lot of memory; after a few battles your loading times will become much shorter, at least some of the time.

SSDs are pretty cheap right now, I had to replace my HD a few months ago and was able to pick up a 2TB M2 drive for a very reasonable price. Would seriously recommend shopping around a bit for a HD upgrade if you are concerned about loading times.

Memory can also be an issue. Both speed and size, depending on how much CA loads into it.

Edit: I'm guessing it's the HD though. WH2 was actually when I finally switched to an SSD and it made a huge difference. Then I got an NVMe and another large SSD shortly after.

Good paper back book to pass the time with or upgrade to solid state

Change unit size and texture ultra to high. I have a better loading time and the diffrence is not big.

ssd solves it mate

I've seen 30 posts on this topic and no one mentions that all the time spent waiting, the hard drive light is barely flashing; the slow "load" time doesn't appear to be the hard drive in my case. For that matter, the long wait between turns is using only 25 to 30% of my CPU. So ya, seems CA has some room for improvement. Big time.

Using HDD for games in 2023 (almost 2024) maaan I hope you wake up in 2024. Get a SSD for 50-70€. Done.
