Endgame scenarios worth doing?
I keep wanting to get back into this game but my Campaign as Skarbrand didn't go the way I wanted and I can't quite decide if Endgame Scenarios are worth doing in the long run or not, since everytime I use them with Ultimate Crisis mode enable the whole Campaign Map just grinds to a halt in terms of pacing.

grinding to a halt is kindof the purpose
endgame scenarios are to cause problems for the lategame steamroll
if you dont like that and just want to keep on steamrolling, turn them off
if you want a setback in the lategame so you can recover and reclaim, or atleast slowdown
leave it on

There is an option to enable diplomacy with the endgame scenario factions, not just for you, but for the AI as well, meaning you can form alliances with some of them. This makes the game become far more chaotic though, since some factions will just steamroll others with their new allies. It does still halt stuff a little bit, and it definitely reduces the difficulty for the player.

I believe the endgame scenario factions have a very weak economy, meaning it shouldn't take much to bribe them. Not 100% on that, I imagine that's how it works since they literally have no economy.

I like them but they are a bit meh even turned up to max, with no proper End Times event it means no real challenge , by the time UC kicks in you are already most likely overpowered and beyond any danger . Tomb Kings and Vampires don't last long and they usually end up suiciding them self , Wood elves just don't get enough stacks. skaven take the 10 turns to go full throttle and you are more than ready for it by then, Chaos dwarfs only use rifts with single stacks. Orcs split up to much and then dwarfs are just dwarfs.

It is good they added them , But IE needs a proper end times event and maybe the odd custom scripted battle added for flavour and challenge per faction, the AI struggles with Multiple stacks during UC and ends up with units stretched out all over the map, and it's LL all dead in the first 5 minutes.

They are not well integrated into a campaign, so they are not the climactic event you might wish for.
From the north they come

Ya, I think so too. I like the endgame scenario concept (I want them to stay), but currently they are to basic in implementation.

I would like to see a start and finish cinematic for each crisis to give them some visual drama. I would also like an element of progressive suspense to each crisis. Updates for the player's win/loss progress with dramatic narration scenes, diplomacy events offering specific options to avoid or exploit crisis opportunities with allies or against enemies, and unique hero's and units that unlock during events. Ideally there could be unique interactions for each faction with each crisis event but that is a long term wish.

Such a body of LABOR would be worth the LOVE. :Resource:

I've not enjoyed a single endgame scenario.

I've never enjoyed the Chaos incursion in the previous games either, nor the incursion armies spawned in the vortex.

Strangely I never had a issue with the daemon forces spawning from the portals. But those had counterplay before they spawn. And let you react before they spawn. Same with the woodelf incursions.

The thing that probably ruins a lot of the endgame scenarios is the massive anti player bias, where factions will trek all the way from the Chaos Wastes to Ulthuan just to take a dookie on your capital, marching past thousands of units who they are also at war with. It doesn't help that when allying with factions who have an endgame scenario, the game just says "Fight! Fight! Fight!" and immediately turns them against you, but the game counts you as being unreliable, as if YOU declared war on them.

It's just a crappy way to do things. They want utter chaos for these scenarios, but they have no idea how to make it work logistically, so this is what we get. It makes 0 sense, and it will continue to make 0 sense for the foreseeable future.

It's the one thing that makes me think twice before activating them.

On the other hand, if you do not activate them, factions that are snowballing will continue to snowball like crazy unless you intervene directly. The endgame crisis throws a wrench into any cohesion your campaign had, halting the snowballing and allowing everyone who's behind to catch up on research, recruitment, etc. etc. whilst the snowballers go crazy and lose all their armies.
