CA promised another Empire rework in roadmap - is that still happening?
I remember it was somewhere in some roadmap?
No idea what genius put Empire as recommended "easy" start, but for now it's one of the most hardest starts in the game because any faction just autoresolves puny imperial counts.
And with AI dodging artillery like Neo in Matrix their one and only advantage is a joke now.

It’s likely to be just a light touch up accompanying the thrones of decay dlc.

ToD will fix it, hes the one thats supposed to do it on the roadkill map

CA, be it via roadmap/interviews/discord/r*ddit or whatever, has made many a promises and pledges.
Very few came to fruition.
You'd be better served to treat whatever they say as having less value then the ramblings of streets hobos. Having expectations leads to disappointment. Also, strangely enough, even having no expectations, they somehow manage do disappoint.

I would guess its coming in the update 5.0, which is in February apparently...

Empire, Tzeentch, Bretonnia, Nurgle, Norsca, and dwarves all could use some work

Yes much like the high quality premium reworks of cathay, kislev and tzeentch.

So probably not happening ever.

if we look at the changes the factions in SoC got, then don't get your hopes up.
Emilia Tempest Nov 25, 2023 @ 6:12am
They have said race "UPDATE".
Which they also used with "rework" but well, do you see any reworks in the SoC update?

What did Kislev get? A new commandment... is that a rework?
What did Tzeentch get? Finally fixing half his main mechanic.. QoL patch to the other main mechanic.. is that a rework?
What did Cathay get? Remove global yin/yang balance for province wide yin/yang balance.. does that count as a rework?

If you answer is no to all three, then congratulations, expect that much for the upcoming Empire 'rework'.

Remember the reworks of game 2?
The first empire rework where they got a new mechanic
The Greenskin rework that gave them a whole new and more fitting mechanic?
The Beastmen rework that made the race, fun?
The Woodelf rework that changed how they play on the campaign map completely?
The Vow update for Bretonia?
The food rework for the skaven?
The Dwarf runes and forge mechanic that got copied over?
The Vampire bloodkiss?
The nors- wait they didnt get jack all

Or the reworks that came with game 3 prior to Soc?
The warriors of chaos rework?
The rework of so many lords that made them more unique? (Queek, Tretch, Ghorst, Manfred and so on)

they didn't even do that. no problem tzeentch has was fixed in any way. cults are still garbage, techs are still mostly garbage, they nerfed the CoW with the DLC and also took away some character from kairos that way, and besides that? introducing new op units that you have to buy with the dlc and that's it.
truely aweful work from CA

I very rarely play empire, but yeah, going from the extremely fleshed out chaos dwarfs to a random multiplayer empire campaign really made it clear that they need a pass or two.

As for the AI dodging stuff, I certainly don't hate the idea of it, the AI is just too good at it. They need to just slow down the reaction times a little.

The way the AI refuses to get bogged down and can slide through several units at a time is far more annoying in my opinion. Not to mention break away from combat constantly in a way that leaves a lot of monstrous creatures basically unable to attack archers/gun lines.
Da_Higg Nov 25, 2023 @ 6:52am
The AI dodging is dependent on the difficulty, on easy it won't dodge, on normal it will dodge out of the way of spells, and on hard and up it can dodge artillery.

these are all things the player can do as well, it's just the AI is able to react faster because it doesn't need time to think, unlike us humans

They said there will be an update and hopefully they have learned from the recent ruckus that they need to deliver something more than a single commandment.

As for Empire, I've been playing VH/VH and cleared out all the main enemies (rebels, orcs, kazrak, festus, and vampires) by turn 30. Confederated Gelt and Boris and have +5 IA and way more prestige than I need. There are some tough battles but it's doable and my mortars are working just fine.
Alin Nov 25, 2023 @ 6:02pm
If they don't do a huge change for Empire and Dwarfs it will be the end
Doug Dimmadong Nov 25, 2023 @ 7:14pm
What they say in the roadmap is 'faction changes' and as we saw from Tzeentch, that equated to changing around 2 extremely minor power options which probably took...5 minutes of coding. So yeah, don't hold your breath.

How do you dodge artillery as a player, exactly? Have I been missing something this entire time?
