Best desktop for peak performance
I know this has been done to death but I was wondering if you guys can help me find a desktop that will allow me to play this game without lag(talking about having six 20 stack armies fighting at the same time with highest settings).

I also don’t want to build one because I just don’t have the time. I’ve been playing on my hp omen for forever. I’m thinking $1200 at the most.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

I'm very interested to know the answer from others, but I don't think you're going to find something with that much power at that price point.

I was afraid you’d say that. I already have 16 gigs of ram in my laptop but it’s 1660 I believe and I’m not going to upgrade unless it’s really worth it and I can get that performance that I mentioned before.

You're not going to get peak performance, but 1200 will get you a pretty decent setup. Computer power hasn't increased that much in the past few years. I've got a 10+ year old processor and mobo with 32gb of ram, an ssd, and a newer 1070ti video card and I can play full 40 v 40 battles on med-high settings without lag.

If you want a pre-build i would look at either HP or Lenovo, both the Legion and Omen desktop brands have quite a good reputation as far as pre-builds go. Honestly no matter how good your pc is, i doubt any pc will be able to play this game without lag whilst having 6 full stack armies fighting each other, especially if your using high settings. Optimisation and performance are not this games strong point.

I can as well with my laptop I have. If I really can’t get good performance with the six armies full stacks I probably won’t even try to upgrade. I really only play rts and most of them don’t really need insane specs.

The laptop I have is an hp omen and I really love it. I was going to upgrade to an hp omen desktop but it seems the consensus is that you can’t accomplish what I’m looking for.

When does that ever happen though? I don't think I've ever seen more than 3 or 4 at a time.

well what fps would you like to be hitting consistently? For $1200 i would think a near constant 60 fps at high settings would be doable. Keep in mind however that the game itself has performance issues that CA is unlikely to fix, so massive battles will still lead to frame drops no matter the hardware.

I've never seen it either, i'm just saying that the game can't make proper use of fast pc components to make massive battles run with an acceptable level of performance. Warhammer 3 is especially CPU bottle necked and can't make proper use of multi core CPU's.

When I’m on campaign and I always do the skaven endgame scenario and 6 stacks attack one of my settlements the game always tanks. Also when I play battle skirmishes just to make custom scenarios. I believe the game has eight slots but I usually do 3 vs 3. This also tanks the game.

What Res do you want to play?
4k. No chance
1080p, potentially.

Honestly 60 would be ideal, heck I would take 30-40 for 3v3. My framed tank to around like 10 on skaven battles. Like I said before though if I can’t play with 3v3 without smooth performance I probably won’t upgrade. Is there really no way to get this?

1080p would be fine.

If you want to aim for 60 fps at 1080p then this is very achievable. If I were you look online at the various pre build vendors e.g HP, Levovo, Asus etc. At your price range your not going to get high end parts, you'll be going more mid range. If you find a system just post it here, i'm sure one of us will tell you if its decent or not for your price point.

Get Geforce Now. For 1080p the $10 per month tier should be enough.
