Books of Nagash for Volkmar- IE
Hello! Please make it so Volkmar the Grim can retrieve books of Nagash that are located in a city via military alliance, not only by occupying the city.

I will never get a few books now, unless I turn on my own military allies. It just feels wrong.

Thank you CA for this amazing game by the way, I hope you can keep polishing this amazing game until it is perfect! :)

going to turn on them eventually
world conquest is the goal
and, yes that is the intended purpose of missions like that, motivate you into doing moves
choose to do the moves or hold yourself back

if your ally knew they had a book of nagash, you wouldnt get it

Situations like this are why I think the AI needs to be tweaked over settlement trading. It's practically impossible to get the AI to trade a settlement to you, even in exchange for another settlement.

Bretonnia and Marienburg are another time I run into this. I'm busy cleaning up Festus, the Beastmen, Vlad, etc, and by the time the empire is stable, Louen has conquered Marienburg which is needed for a long victory. It would be nice if it were more feasible to trade settlements with allies. Right now the feature is just a glorified give gift option.

Pretty on-brand for Volkmar though. "Give me the book or I will attack you" is a pretty good explanation.

Yep yet another feature we asked for, they half assed and did poorly.

No, getting the books is the goal, why should he turn on his allies, why cant he have an option to do it diplomatically. its more BAD design

Exactly.... for exmple, Thorek Ironbrow can obtain his ancestral relics by military alliance. Should be the same for the books really (they are enough of a pain to get anyway).

While I agree it should work similar to how Thorek's items work, this is how the books have always worked for the Tomb Kings (in WH2 and WH3). They just copy-pasted the mechanic to Volkmar and Manfred, I doubt they'll change it. But one can hope :)

Settlement trading works fine, just don't try to buy them with gold, the computer values the settlement far more than plain gold. I've had plenty of settlement trades succeed, as long as I offer them a settlement of similar value in exchange (same tier, same amount of buildings or better).

I love how games like this tickle your imagination.

You're literally refusing to go to war because you don't wanna make your imaginary friends angry.

Hahahaha.

Well, I can't say I'm not guilty of similar behavior. Just laughing at it all.

Same reason in his TWW1 and TWW2 incarnation you were tasked with razing Kislev settlements to the ground for a quest item.

The guy is a religious zealot. The ends justify the mean.

That isn't always an option, especially when the AI just comes in to snipe a town next to you. And it over-emphasizes settlements that have gold income, so there is never a settlement the AI will agree to trade for Marienburg.
