New Stuttering?
Hey everyone o/

So I ordered myself a new PC which arrived at the end of August, and I booted up WH3, set it to the recommended settings (Ultra) although I turned corpses off after 30 seconds, and then I did an IE Campaign with a friend. As I expected, it was a really smooth experience and the only time it seemed to drop frames en mass was when I fought 3 large stacks against one of mine, so 4 army compositions on the field together. Since then I haven't been back to play until yesterday (18th August).

So I booted a single player IE campaign up and the map was buttery smooth like it has been, but when I went into battle, I'm now noticing a 'stutter' every couple of seconds. It's almost like a drop in FPS, but the FPS counter I use through Steam does not show it as such. It's making things extremely irritating and I can't really play it like this without getting annoyed.

I've verified my files and they're all okay. I've don't have Razor software running in the background, but I've disabled most stuff and tested again just in case, and no dice there. I've lowered the settings down from Ultra to Medium and it's happening just as frequently. I've run a benchmark 3 times and it's happening there as well, but not showing on the recording of the FPS, which is why I'm referring to it as a 'stutter'. I have the latest NVIDIA drivers (545.84: Released on the 17th August). Since I last played the game and it was fine, I haven't made any real changes to the PC or monitor so I struggle to see what the cause is, though I see there have been maybe 3-5 hotfix patches since I last played.

For reference I'm using an i9 13900k, an RTX 4090, 32GB DDR5 RAM, it's installed on an M.2 Solid state (Still 1.2TB of free space), and Windows 11.

Is anyone else having issues like this, suddenly out of nowhere? I only have a couple other games installed and the more resource hungry games I have don't seem to have any issues at all :/ Any advice would be appreciated.

Hmmm. No issues for me like that on an RTX 3080 / AM5 7800X3D / 32GB DDR5. Not entirely sure what the problem could be... 🤔

If you download/have a GPU fan control app like MSI Afterburner, it can show you your FPS and etc in game to confirm if there is an FPS drop.

Are you using 4k resolution and max. settings as ultra?

I'm on UWQHD+ 3840x1600 - so yeah almost the same as 4K, and on Ultra.

I remember WH3 was stuttering for me at one point but I can't remember what the external issue was causing the error. Changing from Ultra to Low made no difference in that instance.

It sounds driver issue-ey but I'm guessing you haven't changed anything recently?

I had the same problem.

It is the 13th Intel CPU.

Try this, it fixed my issues:

✔ Solution 1: Create a script file to redefine how the CPU runs the game, as follows:

1. Navigate to the game’s Scripts folder. To do this, open an Explorer Window and type the following into the address bar.

For the Steam version: %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer3\scripts

For the Windows Store or Gamepass version: %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer3\GDK\scripts

For the Epic Store version: %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer3\EOS\scripts

2. Right click in the window and select New->Text Document

3. Name this document user.script (or user.script.txt if you have Windows set to show file extensions)

4. Open the user.script file and add the following line, taking care to include all punctuation and spaces:
(If file already exists, it is recommended you delete its contents as to not conflict with the below.)

HYBRID_CPU_BINDING_METHOD 0;

5. Save the file and run the game.

Tip: As this is a workaround, we advise that you delete the user.script file when the next Warhammer 3 Patch drops. This way you will avoid any compatibility/stability issues that might arise.

I also have a 4090 and a 13th gen I9 and in some games what you say also happened, it had 32 GB of ram but now I put another 32 GB of ram in total I have 64 and all those problems disappear in all the games including this one

Thanks! This fixed the issue for me, looks like it is still present as of today (Intel Gen 14 CPU).
