Campaign stuff - take your pick of paradox,
Battles - mmm... any of the big RTS games
Not really.
Heros of Might and Magic and Songs of Conquest is kind of similar but they lack real time combat.
Edit: You could give Mount and Blade series a try.
Well there was this knights of Arthur game from a while back, was the first to introduce magic too before CA stole their idea, but it's too old/outdated/ugly graphics-wise now
Oh thanks, I could never get into KOH but I'm an avid PDX player so I know that stuff, and as you probably know too it's not really the same
haha funni
I wish HOMM had modern RTS battles OR more indepth domestic politics/diplomacy management
thanks, ill check it out!
TW is extremly popular for being a nerdy PC only game, wtf are u talking about lel
Probably other companies are afraid of the effort, especially when you look at Warhammer 3 with its vast amount of factions all having their own mechanics.
The production value of this TW game specifically is also setting a very high standard which smaller companies can't contend with. Graphical artwork, music, voices, general FX are top notch - example when i play the Skaven, i'm absolutely convinced that there are actual Skaven doing the voiceovers. Same with all the other factions.
The game is imho mainly about the battles, and there is also the problem: there´s no real competition for it on that scale.
If You like the campaign map gameplay more there are probably a couple of games.
Same is when You simply like games, which are somewhat complex, with multiple elements, and offer a lot of hours to play.
Genre wise it´s strategy, But RTS has always the problem of bad AI. So i wouldn´t recommend anything.
Lol.
