If you have a lot of monsters or small elite units, lore of life is a good choice too.
For armoured enemies, lore of metal is apparently good (though I've never personally liked it,
I still cant figure out when to use Final Transmutation)
For Undead, lore of fire is obviously essential, but apart from that, I cant really tell what factions would be messed up by certain lores more than others.
The correct answer is always Beasts. Beasts always. I’m going to spam Beast magic when I come back to this game (over 500 hours already).
In fact that reminds me, I wanted to start a thread to collect advice on how best to utilize beasts in the most fun manner. Order faction. Though Delves will do in a pinch
Having played Gelt and gone on to Cathay, Metal is amazing. Personally I never use Final Transmutation; last I checked it does friendly fire UPDATE: looks like this is now not the case. However, it's enormously expensive and isn't that amazing
I use Metal’s melee debuff on Very Hard, and have done so since WH1. it’s funny that there were threads claiming it was useless; they must play on Normal or something
Spamming shards from the sky for damage with the basic Searing Doom is quite good if so desired, especially with some talent points in it
