Well, that's sad. Duplicated units should not be counted, but they're not "100%" the same, which makes me love and hate at the same time. I wish the devs could make more unique units like blue/pink horrors and bloodletters for each chaos faction. Btw, the new chaos lords and heroes introduced in this DLC also lack in varieties in my opinion.
Most models through years are simply variations on the cast or even better, we’re intended to be kit bashed by player to rep specific aligned characters etc, not till more recently get dedicated releases for each god like see in AoS, ignoring named chars and daemons obviously.
Before CoC, WoC were essentially just archeons faction and represented his end time horde minus some key players like Valkia and Crom. Now not only get chars missing from that event but also dedicated factions for each mono god within scope of WoC, with, albeit simple variations, of units so can actually play w/e theme you want.
Alternative was they didn’t do this for WoC, and you’d be playing someone like Valkia with undivided units, pretending they’re khorne lol
Regardless of all that, if think they’re going to make 50 unique models for any faction in one update…no…no they won’t. Now could they describe what you get for the purchase a little more transparently? Ya probably lol
The next DLCs should all bring something actually new to at least 1 monogod race each - first one up is Tzeentch
The devs have to work with Games Workshop (the IP holder) and existing units from table top and lore before they add them to the game. Which may or exist in the first place. Monogod Daemons in particular have very low amount of units to add to the game.
I mean I wish the devs had made brand new Chaos units for each monogod factions based on 80s/90s Saturday Morning Cartoons. You'd have your Khornate Street Sharks, Nurglish Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tzeentchian Biker Mice From Mars and of course Slaaneshi Wild West C.O.W.boys of Moo Mesa.
That would be awesome.
Unfortunately they have the Warhammer Fantasy license and have to base their content on what exists in Warhammer Fantasy, not my Saturday morning cartoon fantasies.
I think I got your point..? Sorry for having a hard time understanding what you are saying(I'm not a native speaker), but it's a little absurd for me to kinda somehow expect this DLC to actually have 50 new units while it's quite impossible due to the nature of a DLC. Maybe it's because CoC focuses more on the "followers" rather than the chaos gods themselves, so that's why the units aren't so different since they were once mortals(mainly humans)?
That sounds possible, I just realized that maybe Champion of Chaos meant to focus on the "sub-chaos" factions, that's why their units have so many similarities.
I see your point here but I didn't think that way, just wondering why so few unique units and that's all. I know that WH series are based on GameWorkshop's game, and I did not expect to see CA put a lot of original units or characters which don't belong to the Warhammer Fantasy into the game.
And plz no ninja turtles...
I dunno Nurglish Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seems like a pretty good idea to me. They do live in the sewer and eat pizza down there.
But yeah, CA is adapting Warhammer Fantasy tabletop/lore, and having dozens of variants of Chaos units is actually a pretty good way to represent certain aspects of the tradition of kitbashing in the tabletop
This makes Champion of Chaos more acceptable to me.
they do it :)
Many of the units are similar but for battlefield roles chosen of Nugle with great weapons are farther from their Tzeentch counterpart than Empire Greatswords are from halberds.
