Why does this game crash so often?

I was wondering if there is any settings that can be configured that could help?
If the game didn't keep crashing so regularly, it would be one of my favourite games, beating shogun 2.

All recommended fixes have so far not worked.

Well, it's definitely crashy, but not so crashy I can't complete solo campaigns.

Has it been a while since you've updated your GPU drivers? Might also be system related. I'm assuming you've tried lowering the graphics and such. But if your setup is ageing it could mess with it, or if it's badly in need of a format (not usually much of a problem these days.)

Could also be specific, like if you really want to play a certain faction and they just happen to be bugged for an event or something. (Scratch this if it's every campaign/faction.)
I only bring it up because as much as I loved Shogun 2, if I captured a Portuguese ship there was a very high (unavoidable even) chance it would crash when I had to fight certain sea battles. I tried working around it for days before giving up. Then had the same problem with it almost ten years later on a completely different setup.

on my mods had folks who've had trouble with coop, crashing etc I couldn't replicate(don't get me wrong this game crashes, but for me not that common and usually after hours of playing or reloading save file x20 without a reboot while testing a mod), one dude said lowering his texture quality helped.

Beyond that, try closing any background apps, overlays etc too. I've done that for years with TW games cos I just don't trust them xD

It runs rock solid on my end. Don't use 20000 mods and keep your PC clean.

What are your specs?

Have you tried running the game in a lower Res and low settings?

Verified the game in steam?

I've reconed my game crashes when video card memory gets to full. This seems to happend quite often. I'll try to lower the graphics settings, maybe it will help.

I have like 1500 hours in Warhammer 2, very rarely had ans crashes, same computer.

1 non-mod related crash in over 1000 hours for me. Happened first week of launch. Running 50 mods and all settings on high or ultra.

Unless your using mods it shouldn’t crash very often

I had this problem and it was an issue with bad RAM configuration. I play a lot of games and this is the only one that presented a problem. 3.1 patch was particularly bad with crashing. I had to send more voltage to my DDR4 ram and ever since the game is fine. Runs beautifully and hasn't crashed.

Im having the same problem as the op. Im pretty sure that its my graphic card. I have done everything i can think of. But i do hear people talk about playing on SSD

Last week i had a streak of crashes, maybe every 20-30 minutes, before and after battles, game was basically unplayable. I checked and saw my Windows was updated. I tried to update any drivers and despite everything was, in the end, up to date, crashes didn't end. I set the settings to the lowest possible but nothing changed. Then, it turns out i subscribed a mod that i don't even remember subscribing, and it was off, so even if i had remembered i did, there was no cause to believe that it had an impact, but upon unsubscribing (i think) it went better. I am not sure if it were to be a phase and my unsubbing was just a coincidence or it really had something to do with it but now it just rarely crashes, yet still does every 10-15 game hours.

Didn't have a single crash since 2.1, more than 200hrs gameplay, lot of different campaigns, and using some mods as well
Even after upgrading my GPU from NVidia to AMD... So defo crashes are setup dependent
