We need less of that crap, not more.
Season pass has many advantages:
1. Lower price for those who will buy all content.
2. Incentive for company to put in effort with earlier pay.
3. Since company had taken the money they have to deliver so its actually carrot AND a stick.
Whoever is believing that they can force anything on company by NOT giving it money, I have a great plot of land on the Moon for sale. No returns though.
Companies either make profit or abandon projects. Welcome to neoliberal capitalism.
Like Blizzard just delivered with Overwatch 2 by cancelling the main selling point of the game for most people?
Dude, you're so wrong it's laughable. Companies that get your money in advance have 0 incentive to deliver anything. They already got your money.
Season pass guarantees nothing and you take on all the risk with very little or no reward.
You are in essence giving them an interest free loan they have no obligation to repay and can cancel or change at anytime.
I'd much rather just buy the product after it is made so I get access to it immediately.
There is one large difference. Overwatch 2 is free to play. "Selling point" in regard of "free" game is not exactly logical statement.
Also thats what I am talking about. There was no money exchange so there was no incentive to deliver.
There are two things that companies fear.
One is not getting money. Thats what You are trying to do. Cute, but not very effective.
Second is RETURNING the money it already has. And that one is a BIG deal. That one companies hate like plague.
If you seriously think "free-to-play" is free, you're just gullible.
Free-to-play is free to play. Free-to-play is not free to enjoy.
