I wouldn't run them just for the healing, especially since Lore of Life is the best option for Wood Elf casters, but I do run them in some of my endgame stacks.
As large targets go, they are fairly durable, especially if fighting in forests(which is a rare bonus).
In a fight against Sisters of Twilight where she played 5 x Treeman, 8 x Zoat, 2 x Dryads, I generally have to outnumber her with 2 armies. Killing the Sisters of Twilight was Easy with a normal Lord (non-LL) but the army itself is TANKY and continues to fight even after she dies early on.
