Wow if only they did this for Total War. Anyway, seeing problems like this across the company is not good. They don't even have the pricing model decided upon yet. They can't even figure out pricing for DLC.

I still think they just should fired up Arena again instead of this hyena-thing if they wanted a f2p-game with microtransactions. Maybe even make a WH-version this time around. I thought Arena was kinda fun, atleast if you were in a team that had some resemblences of teamwork.

It would definitely be better then Hyenas. While Rob is right and development costs are up, it seems that's largely due to Hyenas. This is SEGAs statement which doesn't say much but says more than Rob's "COSTS ARE UP!!11" statement.

"In this fiscal year, these expenses are expected to temporarily decline due to the launch of “HYENAS”, a major title. On the other hand, the upward trend remains unchanged because development costs are rising overall, and we plan to continue investment into development while taking profitability into account. The change in the amortization rule for R&D expenses is also affecting this upward trend. "

Also they changed how account for R&D which causes the increase in "cost".

Yeah, Hyenas should die belly up and then we should be able to reclaim the devs to work on TW3.. you know.. the game that is carrying CA on its shoulders and they are neglecting.

At this point, I don't care if CA goes t*ts up. The company would deserve it. Then the devs could have a fresh start.

Rich should gather up all the good talented people he's worked with and go indie. Get a Kickstarter like Larian did, I'd back them in a Heartbeat.

Aliens Isolation failed to meet expectations according to SEGA but AFAIK it did sell well and make a profit. It was also a unique game that wasn't entering a super competitive market and while it did release after the Rome 2 disaster, the Emperor Edition came out a month before Aliens: Isolation which fixed many of the issues in the release of Rome 2. In short, it didn't seem like it detracted from Total War as CA was still investing in it unlike today where there's 1 guy working on patches......

maybe they should just give up, they don't even know what theire doing anymore.

all these lower budget good games that sell way more than they cost to make always seem to fail to meet expectations. they'd rather have 1 big game or 2 big ones instead of 5 smaller games or whatever. guess they havent heard about putting your eggs all in one basket.

So the main community didn't care or pay much attention to it and it was on a level playing field. Ok, makes sense.

Being mad is whats in these days. Similar story with Halo Wars 2, nodody is especially bothered by that either or thought it took valuable dev-time away from WH2 (released same year).

Oh right, I forgot they made Halo Wars 2 as well. All I remembered was Spartan: Total Warrior, Viking: Battle For Asgard, that one other more traditional sci-fi RTS they made for consoles, and of course Alien Isolation.

Except WH2 didn't release in a state where it was worse than WH1. This isn't hard to understand. At all.

Warhammer 3 is the worst user rated Total War on Steam.

With a ton of developers allocated to the game, I'd expect Hyenas to offer top tier gameplay on a level we haven't seen since 2018. I'm thinking it deserves a preorder as well.
