Moving Multiple Units Should Automatically Preserve Their Formation
It should not be necessary to hard-lock units into a control group just so they actually keep their formation when you order them to go somewhere. So far I exactly never wanted my selected group break up and array in a single rank at the target destination, so why is that the default? I do recall it didn't work like that in the pre-Empire TW titles.

Also, I'd like if there was a button that automatically slows a moving group down to the speed of the slowest unit without having to create a control group as well.

You can move your units in formation by pressing alt+right click and dragging them to their destination.

Except they are all moving at their individual speeds sp the formation is broken up regardless. Only hardlocked groups move at the same speed.

Alt-movement is also pretty darn awkward and overly time-consuming.I don't see why the default shouldn't be to preserve formations with a single click.

You can pause if it takes you too much time to move your units.

This honestly sounds like a you problem. It's never bothered me with how it currently is, and going off the other replies, it seems to be the same case for them, too.

group them, lock the formation using the wee padlock (top left of the unit cards) then they ain't leaving formation

Please read the OP because I already know that.

It's simply suboptimal because when I hardlock a group I have to either include my characters and then I can't access their spells and abilities until I click on them again or I make them separate groups but then they won't move at the same speed of the rest of the group and I have to waste extra clicks. It's just clunky.

When I arrange my troops like this

M--M--M Melee
S---S---S Skirmisher
----L---- Lord

and give a simple right-click order they arrange like this at the target destination:

L--M--M--S--S--M--S

Why would I ever want my troops to do this? Why is this the default? Keeping the formation should be the default. There's no reason at all to make control that awkward and unwieldy.

And no, it doesn't matter that people here managed to accomodate to this. I have too, y'know. I just don't see why this should be required at all. This is simple QoL.
