Chaos Dwarfs convoys needs a little bit better unit options.
Their starting units of actual Chaos dwarfs are minimal, of course. But I end up having more non-chaos Dwarfs units than Chaos Dwarfs themselves. An example of only having 2 Blunderbusses and 2-3 melee infantry just isn't enough later on, especially when enemies jump out and attack with 2 stacks against it. Needs more artillery, and more Chaos Dwarf infantry.

Getting large units that dont even belong to Chaos Dwarfs roster feels utterly useless. You cant even upgrade them anyway. Though I dont think they shouldn't be there. It's just the rate of having more of them than Chaos Dwarfs units themselves dont lend themselves to a better structured convoy, especially when im stuck with the few basic chaos dwarfs.

Could there be better options to build the convoy that isnt just full of large units, of non-chaos Dwarf units?

Perso i ve got a lot of fun playing with huge variations of units from different races and try to get the better of it when I was intercepted.
But sure, a mechanic where we could reinforce the convoy army (with Chorfs roster only ofc) could be good.
It’s just it must not be too easy like recruiting for normal armies.
So far I never failed once sending a convoy, and earned quite a lot of foreign units in the process so it would really be too easy if we could just recruit new Chorfs units to boost the convoy defence.
But something like 3 research tree options giving 3units more in each convoy army you have, all taking like 4 turns to accomplish or so, and the first 4 melee Chorfs, 2nd 3blunderbusses added, and 3rd 2 monster units (ie, or else) would be cool without being too easily accessible… that could be good yeah.

Still I don’t complain having huge variety of troops as it is now, it leads to very interesting fights with combo you would never seen otherwise which is cool.

Cathay convoys aren't great in the late game either.

I wouldn't say reinforcing via convoy from another army, but more varied recruitment choices of the Chaos Dwarfs main roster. It's usually: take supplies instead Large unit(s), or take 2 of some type of hobgoblins.

I haven't failed as of yet either, but have come close... Mostly because of these unit choices that dont feel cohesive enough, against bigger stacks of armies, and we all know large units just don't perform all that well against big blobs of infantry, and Im stuck with 7 infantry and the other 10 are large units of non-Chaos Dwarf, mind you.

They are not that great but I almost never have them get attacked by anything actually serious

It was intended at first, that I wasn't sending them to a very hostile space, but had declared war on me in the middle of the convoy travel, and ended up being a hostile road.

It was intended at first, that I wasn't sending them to a very hostile space, but had declared war on me in the middle of the convoy travel, and ended up being a hostile road.
Claim the roads then same as Cathay would no?

The roads to DE were green, but got dragged into a war siding with Chaos. They were technically secure... Because everything was green on up.
