Chaos Dwarf Artillery cannot target ground with manual fire

THE ISSUE I ENCOUNTERED (DESCRIPTION)
Chaos Dwarf artillery and war machines cannot target ground areas with manual fire by holding alt+right click. Doomcannons can, but all new Chaos Dwarf units (Iron Demon, Dreadquake, Magma cannon, etc.) cannot.

REPRODUCTION STEPS
Here's how to reproduce the bug or issue step by step:
  1. Launch Total War: WARHAMMER III.
  2. Go into a custom battle or campaign, either is fine
  3. Start a battle with Chaos Dwarf artillery other than Doomcannon
  4. Try to hold alt to manual fire mode
  5. Observe that you cannot do so

EXPECTED RESULT
Chaos Dwarf artillery and war machines should be able to manually target the ground just as almost all artillery in the game can

BUMP! YESSSS .. so far the war machines suck.. pit them against any other artillery and they get trashed. here is another bug you can post in regards to war machines... try to run down some fleeing enemies with the skull kracker.... it apparently can only attack melee if the enemy unit is bracing or standing still. it literally cant attack moving targets.. which I guess all chariots struggle with... which is sad cuz that is literally what they are supposed to be for... running down enemy infantry.. they need a area of effect melee damage that is applied every second while the unit is within melee range.. and animations triggered when the unit breaks the edge of the area of effect... I used to work in Game dev as a animator.. Used to mod the ♥♥♥♥ out of total war games... some mods actually fix the chariot thing pretty good.. but vanilla is just horrible.

Disagree with that.
2/3 or their arty is great. Both, the magma cannon and dreadquake can kill most other arty fairly quick, dreadquakes can even wipe one in a single shot.
The skullcracker and iron deamon are not arty, they are more chariots. Imo they shouldn't compete on arty slots.

Op complains about not beeing able to manualy order arty to shoot an area. It happens and sucks.

Not all artillery can or is supposed to.

The Steam Tank couldn't manually aim for two games, but now it can in TWW3. It feels like an oversight that a race who is supposed to be really good at artillery has ALL of its artillery (except the hellcannon which was ripped from the Chaos roster) made virtually useless within 3 minutes of a battle once units close to melee range.

I think you misunderstand the issue.

When your melee are engaged with enemy melee, if you just click on the enemy units to fire, your artillery will shoot as many of your own units as the enemy's.
This is why once melee is engaged you set your artillery to target the ground in such a way that the impact circle lands only on the enemy and not on your own troops.

Chaos Dwarf artillery and war machines cannot do this.
Empire mortar can target ground, Dreadquake mortar cannot.
Empire steam tank can target ground, Iron Demon cannot.
All cannons from various races can target ground, Magma Cannon cannot.
Empire and Cathay rockets can target ground, Hellshrieker rockets cannot.

Chaos Dwarf artillery and war machines cannot do what their equivalents from other races can do - which implies this is a bug or an oversight, not an intentional design choice.

I seem to remember from one of my(many) part play- throughs that a lot of my troops where indeed killed by friendly fire when playing as Zhatan. This was during the last two weeks. I do not think this is a bug. Think of the lore. Chorfs hate

It's not loreful or logical that a faction known for superior artillery is one of the worst with artillery.

From a lore perspective, that would only make sense for goblins engaging enemies, when it's Chaos Dwarf units, they wouldn't do that.

It may not be a bug per-se, but it's definitely at the very least an oversight.

Historicaly. The first use of clorine gas during WW1 was administured per canister placed facing the opposing trench. This was fine (ish) when the wind was blowing the right way. Guess what happened when the wind turned (real story)

All the artillery alike to the Chaos Dwarf artillery in this video game allows manual ground targeting - but the Chaos Dwarf artillery does not. This is obviously an oversight or a bug, and it should be corrected by the devs.

There is no evidence, and no reason to think, the Devs made rockets, cannons, and mortars for this faction to be like WW1 mustard gas, but did not make rockets, cannons, and mortars from other factions to be like WW1 mustard gas. At this point, you've apparently been reduced to absurdity.

It's ok to admit it's a problem that should be fixed. You don't have to keep doubling down on a position that you can now see is flawed.

Yes I agree, I am absurd. War is also pretty absurd. Killing your fellow kind en masse is not hunting ergo it is not natural

Not beeing able to aim at the ground doesn't make them the worst arty.
Magmas and dreadquakes are insanely powerful and i'll claim dreadquakes outmatch all other arty for aoe dmg. Even a queen bess is a poor joke compared to those.

What do you mean? What Chaos Dwarf artillery can manually target ground? I am referring to when you hold alt and right click to attack ground. Only the hellcannon can do that that I have seen and I've tested all the other artillery

To be specific, I said "one of the worst" not "the worst." I'm not trying to nitpick, though. The Dreadquake is useless once your army has reached melee range because if you use it, you'll wipe out your entire army.

If you have one unit holding a chokepoint for example, and the entire enemy is massed up behind that chokepoint, you SHOULD be able to target the ground far enough away from your unit to slaughter the enemy but keep your unit safe. You can't do that, which means using the artillery in that instance will probably just lose you the battle rather than win it.
