you could also go for the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay books (the Core Rulebooks being the must-buy-first if you're going this way).
Edit :
While you could buy the books directly from the publisher website (Cubicle 7 Games - Hardcover, and most likely PDF), you can also find those resources in other places (such as for exampel, your local rpg shop, DriveThrurpg, or Humble Bundle (when there's a related Bundle available).
... But damn is it rewarding in the end as it has such amount of lore, background, and fun ! :3
If you're looking for an entertaining story i can only agree with people pointing towards the Gotrek and Felix books, as you don't need much background knowledge to enjoy those. They're somewhat the vanilla option for WH:FB books. If you're more interested in a specific faction you might want to tell that directly, as the Warhammer books often follow specific characters from each faction.
E.g. If you're interested in Vampire Counts i'd rather point in the direction of Neferata, the Vampire Wars series, the Red Duke or something else than towards Gotrek and Felix.

For the official website of Warhammer Fantasy fiction.
There are two ways most people get started reading Warhammer Fantasy fiction:
1. Gotrek and Felix is by far the most popular and influential series and follows a Dwarf Slayer and his human companion as they have a series of adventures set at about the same time the Total War games are set. It offers a pretty good general overview of the Warhammer Fantasy world and for the most part is a good read. A couple of the supporting characters went off to have some spin off novels too. About half the Gotrek and Felix books are currently available as audiobooks and they are well made as well
2. If you are more interested in the history of the Warhammer world and how things got to be where they stand in the contemporary setting, there are a few series of novels that deal with the founding of the setting, all collected in reasonably affordable omnibus editions. The Sundering, The War of Vengeance, The Rise of Nagash and The Legend of Sigmar are what you want to check out if that sounds like something you'd be into
Really though, the best approach is to read what interests you. Most of the races/factions in the game have novels that provide some background and information about the characters or themes
After that, I'd recommend reading the Ulrika The Vampire series/omnibus, which contains:
There are also 5 additional Gotrek & Felix novels written:
After that, I'd recommend reading the Thanquol & Boneripper series/omnibus which contains:
After that I'd recommend reading the Heroes of the Empire series/omnibus which contains:
After that I'd recommend reading the Malus Darkblade series/omnibuses which contain:
After that, I'd recommend reading The Ambassador Chronicles, which contains:
These are the ones I wanted to mention outright, but there are still many more book series in Warhammer Fantasy worth mentioning and reading, such as the War of Vengeance series, the Orion series, Elves series, Blackhearts series, and the Warriors of the Chaos Wastes series. The ones I laid out are the ones I have personally read and would recommend, and I continue to plan to read the rest listed and more when I am able. The list is the order I read them in but really after Gotrek & Felix (which is the best entry point), research and read what interests you. You really can't go wrong.
Edit : I lost some of my older Codex ~ Sad.
