marienburg is just a generic empire faction. I think you can diplomaticaly confed them, but you can also just conquer them.

they don't have a LL or special units or smth like that.

when you own the marienburg region you can appoint your own elector count, giving you acces to a special item + unit.

But that's not tied to the faction, but the region.

marienburg is based on the dutch republic or at least the low countries. they are de facto independent entities but still de jure part of the empire.

you need to conquer them to get them back in line

to be honest this is basically how it works for all the lands in the empire, it is just that the rest are tied in to the special diplomacy that you get.
still if you can get someone to secede from the empire and declare war on you than you can conquer them in the same way. it is not great for imperial authority but you can do it.

when i play the golden order i usually push for wissenland - modifiers in order to get them to secede, than i can conquer them. fastest i ever conquered them was turn 9, conquering them unlocks their emperors wrath steam tank elector troop. it takes so much longer if you want to confederate them. i can work on repairing imperial authority after i take them over.
