WoC and Norscan vassal bug?

AI Wulfrik and Throgg went and confederate some minor Norscan factions at the Dark Fortress sites with their faction mechanic. Just found out that I can't revive the confederated factions via the vassalize choice (it's grayed out) due to them having already confederated it. I'm 50 turns in and and the entire area where they used to be is just dead land. This is apparently a known bug back in August. Anybody have any ideas for a workaround, via mods or something?

This bug is explicit caused by the federation made by Norscan since other minors eradicated factions can still be resurrect via vassalization.

Im having the same issure in my current Valkia campaign, and would love to know how to fix this!

I couldn't find a way to fix it in my current campaign. Ended up just starting a new one but removing Norsca's ability to confederate via faction leader defeat with the modding tool. You can do the same by deleting the line that trigger the event in rusted packfile manager
