RTX 4090 only 20 FPS when zoom out on campaign map
I used 3070 before and I set on low setting for good fps, last week I bought a 4090 because i want to some good visual and performance, but I notice that I set setting to ultra on all and my 4090 only give me 20 - 60 FPS when I zoom out on campaign map, is this normal?

I'm running it on 3440 x 1440 monitor, and I'm playing Wood Elf Orion with 52 armies in turn 103, is it because I have too many armies? (Orion make them all free so I have this many) no mod pure vanilla

Could be. WHat are your remaining specs?

Have you tried lowering the resolution ? 2560p ?
I mean, 3070 on low settings sounds like a real waste. I wouldn't be surprised if the game looks better on Ultra - 1080p.

Check your CPU usage.
But yeah, all specs.

for that kind of gpu you need a very good cpu to pull it to max like the 7800x3d

Total War: Warhammer Titles were always rather CPU heavy, so even with a good GPU you might have performance problems.

That is nuts. You should definitely NOT be getting such framerates on such a card. I use a 1080 and I can play with very high settings, troops on ultra size with graphics set to orbit. I would play around with settings if I were you because you should be smashing this game. If I were you I would be looking for the sweetspot (because there will be one) via game settings and GPU settings.

There is something wrong on your end unfortunately. Maybe its your CPU? What does your GPU usage look like is it 99%? My 4090 runs this game on the same resolution at 120 FPS with shadows on extreme.

Uncheck "unlimited video memory" in the graphics options and restart the game. This option is broken in Warhammer III.
Would like to point out that anything above 1080p is a resource hog and while I understand that you want big screen with high resolution.. It's not always what you want to be doing if you also want high FPS.

Other than that.. Look into your nvidia config (not experience) and make sure that options are set to prefer performance and similar.

Me too OP, I have same card same 3440x1440 monitor. After about turn 100 or so when the campaign map starts opening up, fog of war is lifted and corruption effects are everywhere, campaign map starts to stutter. Can't say that it drops to the 20s (minus the end turn sequence) but it becomes a little stuttery depending on where my camera focus is on. Haven't isolated why but I highly suspect my pook 10850k CPU is the culprit. Waiting on the next gen intel CPU cuz I will have to do a total motherboard swap for them, but it is what it is at this point for me. Besides that, it runs great. Do you get micro stutters when scrolling in certain map areas or is it consistently in those toilet bowl frames per sec?

See if you have an army selected, and put your mouse far away from them, like selecting starting Karl Franz army and try to move to Grand Cathay lands. This makes the game laggy as it is not optimized to predict very long movements. I have tested it with multiple setups, all of them are the same when it comes to this problem.

What CPU do you have?

I have a I7 9700f with 3090 and get 45-60fps at 4k with just a few setting turned down.
Performance does tank in the late game though.

My Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) i9-13900k, 3000Mhz, 14 Core(s)
I bought this PC in Micro Center, I only know my GPU is good, and I told the staff to build a good PC for me, he picked up the rest. One of my friend is knowledgeable about computers, he told me my build is all near top level which cost me 4k dollars in total. But yeah, I love totalwar but I don't want this framerate after spending this much money : (
