Peoples Preferred Unit Scale?
I've used Ultra for all warhammer games, and never really considered changing it. I recently changed to normal, and it feels like the units move smoother and just respond better. Ultra feels like most of the time is adjusting the formation.

Curious what others use, and why?

BTW, does unit size affect Auto Resolve?

I use ultra but more out of habit than for reasons.

I really don’t think so.
Since stats scale with unit size in wh3, it’s the same no matter which size you play.
pretty sure it’s not a factor in AR anymore, it shouldn’t be anyway…
No advantage or inconvenient, unit size is just about esthetics and player preference, that’s how it’s supposed to be at least afaik.

It did have some impact in wh2, though.
There, there was no scaling based on unit size, stats were based on large unit size only, and didn’t scale up or down.
So for example, single characters and single entities were overly strong and resilient in lower sizes, specially the small unit size.

But since they scaled the all thing for wh3 as it was notorious since years in wh2 that it was an issue, etc.
So in wh3 there is no impact based on unit size, and it’s the same in AR or 3D battles.
No worries about that, it’s really just supposed to be esthetic and game performance for those who have an older pc, etc. nothing more than that.

WH3 is balanced for ultra.

Me too... although then we'd probably be asking for extreme plus or whatever we'd be calling it.

Large, because I played 1 and 2 on large.

Unit scale chnage totalythe balance for sure small > all second ultra if you can't handle it if not well that the cheap ultra knock off wich name is "large".

The comments in this thread planted a seed. Now I have to try a campaign with units set to ultra size. It means reworking my graphical settings and reshade but it's worth it I think.

Ultra, though I've used Large on weaker PCs. Basically, magic becomes more and more powerful on lower unit sizes, able to wipe out a bigger proportion of the target army with the same cast. So for balance aiming for Ultra is best.

Ultra as I don’t really notice any performance difference, and magic becomes even more ridiculously overpowered. Plus bigger is better!

I think it's the other way, magic becomes more power the smaller unit scale. I'm almost able delete an entire unit with magic on normal. Sometimes 2 units.

Ultra. Multi entity units are clunkier but thats the part of war. Also since they have more numbers they are better at getting single entity enemies stuck and more attacks since there are more soldiers. To compensate for it single entity units have some more health.
As far as I can tell game is rescalled for other unit sizes.
